It seems to have started from Lizzo tweeting that Janet Jackson is the queen of pop to which there's been a bit of an uproar. Following this tweet Madonna has received tens of thousands of mentions and has trended on Twitter as people are stating their version of events. So taking everything into consideration, is Madonna the Queen of Pop and if not, who is? :o
August 30, 20213 yr Author Janet is an ICON and legendary performer and one of my all time favourite artists, + most of her albums are masterpieces, but... no contest for me, Queen of Pop is Madonna. The sales don't lie!

August 31, 20213 yr I always used to think of Madonna as the Queen of Pop... but I'm not sure I would label her as such now. I don't know who would be instead though... certainly not Janet Jackson (though I think she is brilliant).
August 31, 20213 yr Yes. There are individual metrics where others perhaps outdo her, but Madonna has longevity, creativity, cultural impact and of course the sales too. No she's not the best singer and the last decade has been...unfortunate, but there's no competition.

It's undeniable that she is the pop queen. Obviously she isn't the artist that sells the most numbers now but in terms of legacy, it's undeniable.

September 2, 20213 yr It's undeniably Madonna it's not even an argument. No disrespect to anyone who followed but they are all inspired by Madonna and nobody has matched her sales or chart legacy. Even with her not so great 10's decade her achievements in the 80s, 90s and 00s have not been matched.

September 5, 20213 yr Madonna is obviously the queen of pop, there is no competition. The things she has achieved and risks she has taken in her career says it all, and surely she is not as much as a chart force these days but you don't need that when you have reached a level like hers. There wouldn't be a Britney, GaGa, Christina or Rihanna without her.
