Posted September 23, 20213 yr I know it's still a bit too early but what can we expect for this year's race to the Christmas number 1 assuming LadBaby keeps his word that he will not be attempting to extend his monopoly? I can see Ed Sheeran as one of the favourites given the year he has had. Maybe an actual Christmas song.
September 23, 20213 yr Aren't Abba supposedly releasing a Christmas song this year? But I'm 90% sure it will be Edward Christopher Sheeran, he is sure to have many tricks up his sleeve to get it as he did with Perfect. Or maybe our good pal Alexa can stop him :D
September 23, 20213 yr LadBaby are releasing a book for Christmas this year, so I expect that they'll stick to their word and not try for the #1 single again this year.

September 23, 20213 yr Mariah did 58k in the week leading up to Christmas last year, so has to be a contender for #1 in a LadBaby-free chart.
September 23, 20213 yr The ABBA Christmas song is just a track from their album so it'll be out for a while before the Christmas #1 week (not that I expect it would have been a contender anyway). I'm honestly still just gonna expect it to be LadBaby. Don't believe their lying mouths.

Genuinely interesting to see if this is the year Wham can beat Mariah on the Christmas chart this year. Came close last year and of course took over for the post Christmas chart
September 24, 20213 yr Genuinely interesting to see if this is the year Wham can beat Mariah on the Christmas chart this year. Came close last year and of course took over for the post Christmas chart Wham! only passed Mariah on Spotify on the 23rd I think last year so they’d need to get there a good few days earlier. It’s possible but I’d say Mariah’s still the stronger bet.
September 24, 20213 yr Adele is rumoured to be releasing her album just before Xmas Xmas her fist song is always the biggest hit
September 24, 20213 yr I wouldn't rule ABBA out bound to be a big push for Christmas No.1 but yes i think it's anything goes this year with no ladbaby thank goodness 4 years in a row would be too much!
September 24, 20213 yr If Ed Sheeran decides he wants it then the race is pretty much over  I'm glad to have enjoyed the LadBaby saga while it lasted <3 Probably the last true moment of fun and excitement for the xmas charts
September 25, 20213 yr I hope Fairytale of New York gets a shot at #1 this year after being robbed of Xmas #1 back in 1987 thanks to Pet Shop Boys and I think its inclusion on NOW 10 may have also dented the sales of that song. I reckon it would’ve got Xmas #1 back then had it not been included on NOW 10

I reckon it would’ve got Xmas #1 back then had it not been included on NOW 10 I think the fact Pet Shop Boys were the biggest pop band of the era back then had something to do with it too and their song wasn’t half bad either whereas the Pogues were a bit of a left field group at the time with the odd hit over the preceding few years.
