Posted October 24, 20213 yr Welcome everybody to Week 4 of the Chart Forum Quiz Season 5! :cheer: This week is one of the standard quizzes that this forum has seen many times over the years - Family Fortunes! This objective of the game is to find the most commonly given answers and the most popular choices given by other participants. Points will be awarded based on how many other members have the same answers. The winner will be the person with the most points at the end of the game! The deadline for entries is Sunday 31st October 2020 at 23:59 and the results will come the following day. Please send your answers to myself, awardinary. There will be no extensions for this quiz. October 24, 20213 yr Some interesting questions there. Do we need to specify the artist for Q9, or just the song title? (In case it's been used by more than one artist). On a separate note, any objection if I launch my Week 6 anagrams quiz tomorrow night, but with a deadline in 3 weeks time (14 Nov)?

Yes please include the artist and song title so I can check for accuracy. :) I have no objection with this, but the emphasis this week will be Family Fortunes (plus Doctor Blind’s quiz results) ;)

October 27, 20213 yr I have to say much much nicer to do this without a time limit I didn't use google anyway but it's nicer without the extra pressure of the clock ticking and time running out

Your answer doesn’t have to be strictly “correct” or what the author had in mind if you think it will be popular. I’m just thinking that if Wardy gave extra clarifications that might be unfair on those who’ve already entered. Sorry not meaning to tread on your toes Wardy!

For Q7, I would say it’s self-explanatory, a member who is not a moderator but whose a prominent poster in the UK chart forum. For Q12, this means that when the Top 100 of this decade (the twenties) is revealed at the end of this decade, which songs from this year might you expect to see feature in that list. I assume with FF there are no wrong answers so it’s up to everyone how they interpret the questions? Incorrect answers will score 0 points, just like in the real game of classic Family Fortunes. This isn’t Pointless remember, so there’s no bonus points for smart answers that others don’t think of, the objective to to find the most commonly given answer to each question. Edit: But just to add, if for example multiple people answered with a song from 2020 for Q12, this would be incorrect and therefore all would score 0 points.

I'm not sure if that is the case in actual Family Fortunes! I remember one episode where one of the questions was 'name a small bird' and one of the scoring answers was Kylie Minogue :lol:

I remember one episode where one of the questions was 'name a small bird' and one of the scoring answers was Kylie Minogue :lol: Well I've spent most of this evening combing through all the answers given so far, and some questions do have grey areas, but... if only one person answered it, then the score would still be 0 as no other person gave the same answer. Correct me if this is wrong, that was how I always understood the gameshow from watching Les Dennis host it back in the day when someone gave an answer nobody else had given. ;)
October 29, 20213 yr You get 0 points for giving an answer no one else has given, but you should still get points in the (fairly unlikely but not impossible) scenario that 2 or more people give the same 'wrong' answer.

October 31, 20213 yr Oops sorry for missing the last couple of quizzes my mind has fully been in BJSC mode - Bray nudged me about this so entered and will aim to keep doing so again.
