oh I had voted for the last 3 :/ I was a big Bangles fan since day 1, so talented! Kinda crazy that Walk Like an Egyptian didn't go to #1 in the UK but #3...

also I remember the lead from their Everything album was In Your Room, which was a great song and went to #5 in the US but only #35 in the UK, which was a bit of a flop... luckily they followed it up with Eternal Flame but In Your Room deserved more

Only Bangles single I bought was Hazy Shade of Winter, which was a banger!!

Not bothered by any of the three out today (even though I bought Eurythmics back in the day)

Again three songs that I like and can't really fault even though I didn't vote for them!

I probably would have given points to Manic Monday or Walk Like An Egyptian if either of those got to #1 for the Bangles, I probably would rank them higher than Eternal Flame tbh.

A delicate blonde Annette Zilinskas (Bangles bass player) was the first person with Lithuanian ancestry, who was represented in UK charts.
Like I expected, I have my 29 still standing, Stand By Me was always a niche vote but I love the song. At least my 29 will be top 2 in the end I think
Love 'There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart)' did not know that Stevie Wonder was involved with that song!
“Two Tribes” is my favourite Frankie Goes to Hollywood single, the production alone from Trevor Horn would be enough for me, but a song about mutually assured nuclear annihilation. Incredible scenes! *.*
I do love Eurythmics just couldn’t find room, Absolutly adore ‘Caravan Of Love’ and ‘Eternal Flame’ is a pop classic!

This is the UK discography for Bangles, just realised they got a #1, a #2 and a #3:

Hero takes a fall/96

Going back to Liverpool/79

Manic Monday/2

If she knew what she wants/31

Going back to Liverpool/56 (re-issue)

Walk like an Egyptian/3

Walking down your street/16

Following/55

Hazy shade of Winter/11

In Your Room/35

Eternal Flame/1

Be with you/23

I’ll set you free/74

Walk like an Egyptian(Remix)/73

Something that you said/38

in the US they only managed 8 top 100 but two 1s and two 2s:

Manic Monday/2

If she knew what she wants/29

Walk like an Egyptian/1

Walking down your street/11

Hazy shade of Winter/2

In Your Room/5

Eternal Flame/1

Be with you/30

I really should have voted for that Eurythmics song. Angelic!

Housemartins' version of Caravan Of Love sounds greatly influenced by Flying Pickets cover of Only You back in Christmas 1983! Both are good, I think I prefer Only You as it was released first.

The Eurythmics song I am not a big fan of, it takes itself a bit too seriously I think. Eternal Flame also is a bit MOR for my liking. Also Eternal Flame I can't think about without thinking about not only the Atomic Kitten cover but also Shakira's ballad Underneath Your Clothes in the early 00s which it really reminds me of melodically!

3 good songs out today. The Reflex and especially Caravan Of Love are songs from my votes that I didn't expect to get this far.

Not long left for the Pet Shop Boys to get a clean sweep of their #1s in the top 40 (watch them all fall one after the other before we get there now...)

I hope they haven't split the PSB vote too much.

Off topic but Underneath Your Clothes is a lovely song.

Housemartins' version of Caravan Of Love is one of the best cover versions ever.

Also think there are not many Indie pop groups that manage UK number 1.

I demand any popularity thing like "The best cover version ever that manage UK top 100" in Buzzjack. :w00t: :cheer:

all 3 of those are lovely, just didnt have enough votes to spare. Eurythmics has an amusing video to underline they were having a laugh, Bangles Going Down To Liverpool (a Katrina & The waves song) is fab and undeservedly obscure - Hmmm BJSC potential one day, and Caravan Of Love is a cover that betters the original - and it's VERY difficult to better the Isley Brothers versions of any song...

Yes we’ve reached the 10 voters point so a third of you threw Tiffany “Mall rat” (as she was termed at the time) some points! Her cover of the Tommy James & the Shondells 1967 track went to No 1 on both sides of the Atlantic and of course provided a top 10 hit for Girls Aloud when they covered it.

Sorry Tiffany fans, but I prefer Girls Aloud version.
