Who said they were dropped? Maybe they chose to leave.

I can't see any label dropping an act that opens with such stunning figures.

it all depends on the contract of course and on their salary/deal.

I redirect you to 'Adele - 30 (First Week Sales Predictions)'

Not one post in that entire thread of somebody predicting 800k. So I will ask you again, where did you find anyone predicting it?

There's a few votes for 300k+

try looking closely for 700-750, 850 and the votes.

I used to buy albums and play them hundreds of times maybe even more when i was younger. Should my album purchase count as 10 purchases?

As you say, that was when you were younger. Nowadays the majority of people are streaming the album not buying physical copies so the sales should represent that better.

Streaming an album all the way through 100 times right now is worth, at most, 1 sale (and due to there being a daily cap there's no way that 1 sale can take place in a single week). So no. x

(I sincerely doubt that there is any significant number of people who have streamed any album enough to contribute a full 1 sale to it in the UK let alone any more than that)

They were dropped. Dire karaoke band with atrocious figures.

Thats exactlt what i am saying. As individuals We shouldnt be allowed one sale per week from streaming otherwise we would be ‘impacting’ 20-30 album sales in a few months or year.

And we aren't. So I'm not sure what your point is.

More streaming impact would make the album chart like the singles. Do u really like what happens there? Every no1 staying there for like 2 months…

Unless you like collecting CDs/Vinyl for memorabilia why on earth would you buy an album these days? Streaming is so much easier. I don't even have devices to play CDs or vinyl. And I had hundreds of CDs back in the day so am a big music fan. I do understand that artists get smaller amounts from streaming than record sales but that is a sad fact of modern life.
and thats the way it is when the market shrinks

she'll still do 50% more than ABBA, who did 50% more than Ed

Thank you.

I read recently that in order to generate 1 sale, you need to stream an album 84 times, then it's equivalent to a sale

not sure how they did the calculations though

There's tons of people that have jumped into the vinyl madness and own a vinyl player now

CDs still sell pretty well too - just the record companies don't want people to know that because margins are much lower than on the vinyl - which is pretty much always printed from the same master as the CD these days anyway....

Big news update Christmas chart 24th December just update times 4pm to 6pm no newsbeat so find number 1 official chart website before announced on radio 1

Streaming is great but don't forget there are millions of people who are just more casual in their music listening. The ones who listen to Radio 2 in the k*tchen or pop an Adele CD in the car and listen to that over and over again. They just buy the occasional CD when they fancy it. They don't want or need to pay £120 a year subscription. Not everyone listens to music through a computer or phone.

I believe it's in direction relation to how much money are streaming services paying for each stream.
