300k is all to play for still! Very possible 219k with missing streams is amazing considering she still has 2 days left plus missing streams
Taylor and Little Mix are 10 and 11 respectively. Both with 7 new entries ahead still.

Bruce Springsteen still top 10 or darkness took it place

omg less than 300k what a flop etc
she is not over but some people were predicting 800k then settled for 500k then settled for 300 and now they will settle for around 260-270.
I did really think the special would have pushed her to 300k to be honest.

and thats the way it is when the market shrinks

she'll still do 50% more than ABBA, who did 50% more than Ed

Fantastic numbers tbh! Biggest female album since 2015 now that really does put her in a league of her own! And it has gone past first week sales of 21 which was 208k

With artists not achieving our expectations due to market changes I’m really interested to see how some of the upcoming Q4 fare.

Westlife - Opened with 63k with their last album 2 years ago and had 2 Top 30 singles, this is their first since being dropped by Universal.

JLS - Comeback album

Gary Barlow - Christmas album releasing the same week as Westlife

If the likes of Ed, Adele and Abba have set the way for first week sales in the current climate then the above could really be off the expected pace?

A certain Westlife stan is about to be seriously triggered

Maybe the ‘underperformance’ from acts like Ed and Adele shows that maybe the the way they calculate the streaming sales needs to be changed to make a bigger contribution.

Absolutely this - acts are achieving stunning numbers on streaming that are not reflected in album sales.

As an example I’ve bought every physical Adele album apart from 30 which I’m streaming - but to create a sale for it I basically need to play it on loop all week

It does but I think it should have a massive overhaul any way. No double counting, the only way you can get album streaming sales is by people clicking on the album and playing it directly. Those streams though would be much more valuable and put the emphasis on labels to get people to stream albums and not play lists. Also to not have the same songs on several albums so that they get double counted streams.

Where did anyone predict 800k?

Receipts needed.

All that proves is that people on this site are rubbish at predicting.

And that there's a heavy optimism bias involved, which there nearly always is when you really want to see album sales reach previous heights instead of the fear that something you personally love is in a state of terminal decline.

Who said they were dropped? Maybe they chose to leave.

I can't see any label dropping an act that opens with such stunning figures.

I used to buy albums and play them hundreds of times maybe even more when i was younger. Should my album purchase count as 10 purchases?
