Not sure the Katie Melua album will do much - it’s an acoustic version of her album which was released last year.

 

No idea what to expect from Gary Barlow, interest seems minimal but he has a strong physical buying fanbase.

Deep Purple should do reasonable physicals

The gaps between 2/3/4 barely changing today then (if my mental maths is correct, 'Oh My God' has very slightly increased its lead over 'Shivers' and 'Shivers' has very slightly increased its lead over 'I Drink Wine'). With most of today's streams not actually mattering I think it's very unlikely any of those positions are going to change now.

 

Wham! are already running Mariah really close, I wonder if they might actually end up overtaking her before Christmas this time? (Love to see The Pogues possibly coming for top 40 this week also ofc x)

I think that’s right myself, not entirely sure. She’ll certainly be the first British female to do so and indeed the first have four no1 albums generally.

I have also bought myself the album from Amazon for Christmas, the part 1 album, not part 2, which only has vinyls or cassettes. Smaller artists these dsys tend to release albums in two parts, like Lady GaGa did with Artpop and Chromatica.

 

Not sure if I should buy it for friends too, in case they react like people did in hurr...

 

I also like the fact that the least commercial track is the last track, so it won't affect album streams, so she is obviously looking for a Spotify hit. I hope y'all are streaming too...

Those album sales for YTD are awful. Not one album has crossed 500k yet. I suspect Adele will but doubt she will do a million this year.

Yup, streaming has killed the album market. I'm surprised people thought Adele would smash it oot the park with over 400k etc, when a quick look at the charts shows the album market is dead as a dodo.
