Wonder if this will put to bed the conspiracy theories about Ed Sheeran on here, surely Ed’s label(or Ed himself as some on here would like you to believe) would have got ‘Shivers’ changed to SCR just to get another week at No1 if he’s that interested….

No it doesn't. Shivers can't be manually reset because it's not his current single. If anything, Overpass Graffiti being reset just reeks of desperation because it's not going to make much of difference besides a slightly longer chart run in the top 40

It became one of the most exciting chart weeks in recent times seeing new songs takes off after Christmas like 2017 with Jax, JP, Starley etc adding to a whole host of new entries to the top 40. This is completed unwarranted and a massive step backwards imo.

Besides they definitely shouldn't have reset EOM as she has two other tracks that can benefit from taking over now.

It's at least better than what happened a couple years ago with it being a free-for-all with resets, before they changed the January resets rules last year. If we still had the old rules, Blinding Lights and Levitating would be on track to get a reset this week alongside a couple more fairly old songs.

You keep going with your theories then After all comment is free facts are sacred!

Some of you are making me laugh with your nonsensical takes.

“EOM had its run!!! It isn’t fair! :( :( :(”

The ONLY reason it isn’t still number 1 is due to Christmas. The song hasn’t even been out 4 months yet and people are acting like it’s been charting for 6. It’s only right that it should continue from where it left off before the Christmas effect kicked in. EOM still has a lot of life left in it yet, hence why it’s still doing very well on streaming and iTunes.

I mean it's just as false a #1 as abcdefu would've been when Shivers has actually sold more this week

Some of those resets are bizarre... like who the f- wants Dermot Kennedy to have another week at #20. It makes zero difference to anyone.

To be honest Better Days is better than some of the songs that got resets, and maybe it can give Dermot a chance of another top 10 single!

In my opinion, ACR shouldn’t exist anyway. It’s utterly stupid. The most popular song that week should be #1, it’s decline shouldn’t be artificially accelerated. It’s ludicrous.

Do you want a repeat of 2016 charts and 15 week #1s? No thank you. The chart has to be adapted to the nature of streaming being the dominant force.

The funny thing is that the ridiculous situation 2 years ago where everything was automatically reset wouldn’t be happening now anyway. Hardly anything’s had a big increase. At least the 25% rule is fair and consistent. This is just utterly arbitrary.

Easy On Me has been out for 11 weeks and it’s declined every single week apart from Week 6 when the album was released. It hasn’t even had a noticeable increase this week. There is no rational basis for it being re-set when the normal rule is that you go to ACR after 9 weeks if you’re declining. I don’t blame her or her label for the opportunism; it just shows what happens if you have loose rules around “currently promoted singles”.

Overall though it’s unbelievable that EOM has been reset when the song had huge success in 2021 and was No1 for ages why not keep it on ACR and send the next single to radio, surely the album will sell more then?

I am with you there, don’t see the point in manual resets once a song has peaked at #1. People will be bored with Oh My God by the time the label get around to pushing it. You only have to look at Olivia’s Traitor not really benefitting at all by the time the video came out as it had already had its impact on album release.

Crazy to think Shivers would be #1 with no ACR at all. Impressive achievement given how long the song has been out for.

Get feed up official chart stilly blood rules and record company make request reset this all down Christmas song went reset. That why hate January charts
Not Adele actually getting a reset...

A question: how do you all get the news of what songs have got a reset or not?

Can't be cos it's not the current promoted single, that's OP

They already bent the rules for him with the Peru song, and they hadn't bent that rule for anyone in the last 4 years

Goosebumps by HVME (and the later credited Travis Scott) says otherwise. It's not bending the rules, it's the label literally specifying the credit. The OCC go by that, it's their policy.

Didn't Levitating get a manual reset last year? :kink:
