Biography

In his native Ayr, in Scotland, Ewan McVicar revitalised the town’s club culture, sparking a movement that remains fervent and committed, four years since it was first formed. This is typical of Ewan’s community-focused outlook. Still a relative newcomer to the international circuit, his commitment to building a local scene in Ayr, combined with his DJ skills and fearless approach to production make Ewan one of the most promising artists of his generation. Nominated in the Breakthrough DJ category at the DJ Mag Best of British Awards in 2020, he is ascending rapidly up the ranks. Already a core member of Patrick Topping’s Trick collective, and the brains behind his own mini empire, this early success is a sure-fire sign of things to come. Hungry, determined and full of good vibes for all, Ewan McVicar is primed for the next phase of his burgeoning career… - Spotify

I think if we hadn't had Head and Heart, Bed and Out Out, we might be thinking that I Wish is better than most of us do.

At the same time... it's still a birruva bop!!

This is the most generic release yet from the current most generic artist. :nocheer:
Mabel seems to be struggling era 2 - I’m sure she’ll still manage a double platinum album though with 8 sales and the rest made up from streams
Aww Ewan didn't get a new peak today. :(
Would you guys say I Wish is Joel’s worst song to date?

Sorry imo just doesn't hit the same as his others! So i think sorry is his worst!

Why are there so many resets this week?

Label-requested resets that the OCC grant in the week post-Christmas to replace automatic resets for the week (spares us a heap of old songs being reset and clogging up the chart)

Mabel seems to be struggling era 2 - I’m sure she’ll still manage a double platinum album though with 8 sales and the rest made up from streams

Not if she has no hits on it.

Mind you, at this point I wouldn't be surprised if they just transfer all her previous hit singles and put them on the end of the next one when it comes.

Biography

“We’re the ones that are pushing this boundary,” D-Block Europe’s Young Adz told Apple Music. “People who are signing urban music over here—they call it urban, we call it pop in the streets—that ain’t street music. We’re doing street, UK, wavy music, front-lining it.” They might not consider themselves pop, but by the most literal definition, DBE are just that. Chart positions, sold-out arenas and a nomination for the 2020 BRIT Award for British Group (before they’d even released a debut album) all make them one of UK rap’s most popular acts. D-Block Europe was originally a collective that called upon various London MCs, but Adz and childhood friend Dirtbike LB have emerged as both the engine room and executive board of the operation. They met at Sedgehill School in South London, where Adz was dropping mixtapes from the age of 13. He signed an ultimately fruitless major-label deal at 15 before coming under the patronage of NY rap heavyweight Jadakiss, who offered features, support slots and license to use The LOX’s D-Block Records name. With a series of self-released singles and mixtapes, Young Adz and Dirtbike LB took their place at UK rap’s top table during the late 2010s. Leavening trap’s chilly textures and portraits of road life with sticky Auto-Tuned hooks, their music is notable for its nimble wordplay and candour. While D-Block quickly gathered notoriety for their unfiltered bedroom braggadocio (“Kitchen Kings”), their willingness to open up about mental health and therapy (“Prescription Drugs”) has made them a standout presence in UK rap. It’s all been done independently by the industrious duo (63 new tracks released across three mixtapes during 2019 alone). They’ve continuously waved away offers from labels, confident that no one can guide their career as well as they can. Every award, Top 5 release or filled arena only strengthens their self-belief. “When you see Messi kick ball, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing,” said Young Adz. “Sometimes, the people have to choose you because they’re like, ‘We ain’t never going to see this again—from their sounds, from what they talk about.’ Our personalities shine through our music. We’re bigger personalities than rappers.” - Apple Music

Biography

Following the success of 2016’s Moana, Lin-Manuel Miranda reunites with Disney as chief songwriter for Encanto, a celebration of family that also pays loving tribute to Colombia’s rich and diverse musical tradition. But there’s another name on the bill that’s just as exciting and noteworthy: Germaine Franco, the first female-identifying composer to score a Disney animated feature-length film. - Apple Music

Nice to see this so high, despite it being ancient now.

Blinding Lights is ancient not this.

Well, at least this Jessica song is so much better than that other Encanto song played before. :P
Thank FOOK he skipped D-Block Europe. There is a God.

I'd rather he skipped the Encanto shite than D Block
