Monday seems a odd day to release his comeback single but I guess it probably won't matter in the long run as it's bound to be a hit regardless. Looking forward to it anyhow.

wish he had gone for a Fri release even if his singles usually take ages to peak

C’mon George, put it out on Friday!

The release is probably tied into the Hottest Record on Radio 1 or he’s appearing on Greggs show with the exclusive first play.

Will be interesting to see how this does. Especially given as the 2nd album lead single flopped.

I guess since then though he scored a huge second era - so fingers crossed it does well for him

I'd imagine he'd do well as Paradise and Shotgun were absolutely massive tracks! Didn't have this same momentum going into album two. Depends on the song but I'm guessing he'll play it fairly safe to avoid the same case as 'Don't Matter Now' (not that it deserved to flop!)
I'm interested to see how he does, 4 years is a long time but I guess it's the same gap between the first and second album. I think he's more than capable of pulling it off.
I doubt his Christmas song will have any bearing of how his new album era will do given it’ll probably have been passive listens that mostly made up its streams. Ellie Goulding scoring a #1 with River didn’t do much for her next era.

True - my point was more that due to it, it hasn't been completely 4 years that he's been away

But I guess we'll see what happens

The Christmas song helped keep his name in peoples mind ahead of the full comeback, he has 2 very successful albums under his belt but with decreasing album sales it will be hard for him to get a third million seller.

I think it will depend on the singles. Paradise and Shotgun really sold the last album.

I remember they initially tried to launch the last album with Don’t Matter Now and then went back to the drawing board after that flopped.

Dont matter now was a worrying start for his last album and initially it looked like he would struggle with a second album but along came paradise and especially shotgun and everything just blew up again for him.
I don't think 'Don't Matter Now' is even that bad. I think more than anything he'd just been a bit forgotten at that point after such a long time away, and those types of acts can tend to struggle with their second albums. Then he just got extremely lucky.
Why lucky? I'd say the opposite, it was a well-deserved success cos the songs were good, nothing to do with luck
Sorry, it was a bit unfair of me to say "just" got extremely lucky - they are great songs and I was really pleased to see him bounce back. I just mean loads of acts in that position also release good songs and try their best but don't manage it, so it was quite lucky he did.
I think with an artist like George, it all depends on what the song's like - 'Don't Matter Now' wasn't a particularly strong song where as 'Paradise' and 'Shotgun' were great. Fingers crossed this new one falls into the latter.
