Yeah I was expecting much worse. I wonder if it’ll hang around the lower end of the top 100 for a few weeks.

I was saying #11 wasn't that bad given she isn't really a bonafide STAR and KNOWN NAME last week and everyone was berating it and now a fall to #63(!) is considered a success by the people that were calling #11 a flop :') It's disastrous a drop - and shows there really isn't much interest in the album in its second week and she isn't really cared for much outside of her not too large "fanbase" that bought it last week.

Expecting it to be #89 instead is probably like a couple hundred sales difference so is it really much better than that?

The reaction to #63 being better than the reaction to #11 is hilarious - the album chart is a joke / or people are trying to big up her success moreso to make it seem like there's still a shelflife to the era / make it seem like she's actually doing well with this :kink:

She's absolutely not doing well by any stretch of the imagination and this era has been a complete disaster in the commercial stakes

I'm just taking what small mercies I can from it

The pattern I was expecting was 2-OUT OF THE CHARTS, #2 in week 1 cos nowadays everybody's gone mental with the multi-buying multi-format with every fan buying 20 versions, even acts with the tiniest fanbase can do well cos of that, but they only buy on week 1 so you're out of the charts on week 2... only thing that holds you up is streaming, if you have that your decent is slowed down... so I take it as Ava doesn't have the fanbase so it underperformed in week 1 but has some streams so it held better than expected in week 2.

Relatively speaking a #11 entry being as “high” as #63 in week 2 isn’t bad going in terms of how the album chart operates these days... it would be more expected for a #11 to leave the Top 100 or perhaps even the Top 200. So honestly I understand and agree with the reaction to that in this thread! There’s at least some indication of mild interest in her album, which it should be stressed doesn’t include anything bigger than a #83 peaking single.

I just dont get why this era is flopping, every song is such a bopppp! Poor ava, she deserves so much better
After the #11 debut it had all the signs of a top 10-20 debut then out of the top 100 type of run. The fact it’s stayed in is good. Should it have done better? Most probably yes, but it is what it is.

I'd say this is unfair and not sure if it's just because you don't like her or not?

It happens to a lot of pop artists, however, they are still able to get sell out tours and sustain a solid fanbase. Even people who probably aren't seemed to be the same calibre as the likes of Carly & Tove - Madison Beer, Sabrina Carpenter all have recently had sold out tours and a solid fanbase, with sustained interest in them but isn't hugely reflective in their chart history (maybe due to the way we consume music now and their demographic) and I'm pretty sure Ava could do the same should she go on tour, I definetly think she has a solid fanbase but probably won't get much more commercial success but doesn't mean to say there is little to no interest in her as an artist exactly.

I think that's what I mean! That those artists have toured their music (some non-stop) but Ava hasn't despite releasing two albums. I think she should tour because that is a key way to secure a loyal fan base but also explore your music in a different way and let it connect with people in new ways.

She is apparently touring for the first time this year so that's exciting at least. Touring is also a lot more profitable than simply releasing music so her label should be fighting for it too.

I think it’s good that she’s finally doing a tour. We also have to take in the fact that she wasn’t able to do a tour circuit with her debut because it was released during the pandemic, so maybe doing it now with a more extensive discography/more recognizable songs under her belt would be a better way to get word of mouth going.
I didn't connect with any of the pre-release material unfortunately but I'm loving the album track 'Last Night On Earth' punchy intergalactic 80s synth realness
Absolutely obsessed with 'Dancing's Done' and I do hope it becomes the next single :cheeseblock:

BBC is playing 'Ghost', hopefully 'Dancing's Done' is the one to get the big push after that.

But then the BBC was also playing 'Faster' by The Saturdays and that never happened as a single, so who knows.

The usual 4 cities. YAWN!

I'm TIRED of artists only doing the big 4 cities :drama:
