22 ALL★BYSMASHMOUTH ◼ And So I Watch You from Afar '7 Billion People all Alive at Once’

12 Cellar Darling - DANCE

10 Nocturna - New Evil

08 Baltra - Will You Be? (CFCF Remix)

07 Ana Sanz - Sigo

06 TORRES - Thirstier

05 MASTER BOOT RECORD - Ftp

04 Zen - Desaparecer

03 RAISE A SUILEN - Invincible Fighter

02 The Hotelier - Among The Wildflowers

01 God Is an Astronaut - Forever Lost

'DANCE' strikes a strong balance between needed accessibility (memorable melodies, nicely arranged sections) and uncompromised length.

'DANCE' is gifted another twelve and ascends back into the top three. Remember when Dobbo was in the lead at the beginning and then dropped off — well, Dobbo is pissed — and now only one point from the lead.

We also now know everyone who entered the current frontrunners... but which one is going to win? Mishkin Fitzgerald in tenth place is still a mystery — is a surge out of the question?

Rollo as Cellar Darling! Great choice and band, I've been reliving their other material because of sending 'DANCE'

The betrayal x

Sorry, I loved the BaNG Dream/J-rock sound (though I've never seen BaNG Dream either), just this coming along with a really strong contest pushed it below my post-rock and emo needs.

Thank you for all the huge points so far, I'm very happy to be doing this well already with Nocturna ^_^

Wow thanks so much Rollo! so my inkling of you being behind Cellar Darling was right. Love that we have traded 12s *.*

It was an easy choice to give my 12 points to Bruit. I was enthralled by it the first time I listened to it. Thanks for your 12 points as well. Long song solidarity!

Ooh I was curious to see who sent And So I Watch You From Afar, great entry Mr. bySmashMouth! Really pleased to see them doing so well, makes me wonder why I never got around to sending them myself before but at least someone has eventually haha.

(a New Rivermaya BJSC return after 84 years in the wilderness would not go amiss judging by the taste on display here x)

Exciting to still have so many real contenders for the win at this late stage, a lot of those would be good options.

23 ROB S ◼ Poets of the Fall 'Locking Up the Sun'

Why ''Locking Up The Sun''?

I chose 'Locking Up The Sun' by Finnish band Poets of the Fall because of the cool rocky electronic sound to it. It really sets in motion from that pre chorus part which is actually my favourite bit of the song but the chorus and the whole song is fab too. There's not many of their songs that stuck with me wanting to return to but this one (and the other one I confirmed until I changed to this) was on replay especially last year as it appeared in my top songs on Spotify.

'Seguramente Fui Yo' is my 12 because of how different it was and how instantly it grabbed me from the beginning with the guitar. A lot of interesting stuff musically going on with pleasant vocals and the musical part half way through which sounds like some kind of Irish wedding dance/jig from eons ago. fab folky guitary choice this.

It was an envious lead for a while but Gang of Youths have been dethroned by Cellar Darling. Our eclectic tastes result in another twelve going to a brand new song — Maria Rodés is the lucky one this time.

24 FRANKLUCK ◼ Esti Kornél ‘Utánad’

Why '’Utánad’?

Esti Kornél's been around for a while here, but they are quite a new discovery to me. 'Utánad' was number 1 on my personal chart for some weeks, I was curious to see if this beautiful song could get some fans without understanding the lyrics. (I don't expect much success though).

01 Nocturna 'New Evil'

It was a very easy decision, not even 'Ftp' was really close. KennyHoopla could've been a contender but I've listened to 'how will i rest in peace if i'm buried by a highway?//' countless times, I usually penalize entries like this, I don't like giving max points to songs I already know. Back to TORRES: I loved 'Sprinter' back then, but I think 'Thirstier' is even better, it grabbed me instantly. I'm sure I'm going to listen to it loads in the following months.

..And another song gets their first twelve points of the night — it is great seeing such a broad amount of love being shared around. MASTER BOOT RECORD return to the top (Dobbo supremacy *.*)

(Don't let Gang of Youths know they left the top three x)

Not exactly a huge surprise but it's a real shame to see Esti Kornél so low down. Looks like the foreign language songs in general are having a rough time here.

25 BLACKSQUARE ◼ CRUMB ‘BNR’

Why 'BNR'?

My taste is always going to lean more towards laidback and lowkey — which doesn’t always work for a contest like this, but I like really how simple ‘BNR’ is and hope it manages to grab some people amongst a group of strong songs. There is a slight trip-hop element to the production which I love, the guitar riff is used sparingly, and I always enjoy an outro with a production switch-up (as short as this one is).

I knew immediately that the heavier choices wouldn’t be for me — as much as I try. I can appreciate them from afar but something doesn't click. It’s baffling to enjoy heavy electronic music but draw the line when a guitar is involved. It's annoying to feel so limited with my taste sometimes. I would say ‘Will You Be? (CFCF Remix)' is probably the most un-Nuggets song for me to choose, but I can’t help it — something a little electronic, nostalgic, easy? I’m all in. It really reminds me of something some indie synth bands would have released around 2007-2012 — which makes me feel extremely old to have those as a nostalgic reference. But it’s wonderful. Did I go and listen to The Teenagers immediately after listening to this for the first time? Maybe.

Well, my votes didn't really change much at the top...

Amazed to see this finish in the mid-table and would've qualified in a BJSC semi! I guess I can extend my congratulations to Dobbo if non-participant votes aren't in?

EDIT: Thought the DNV ones are not counted in the sequence lmao

Ooh thanks for the 8 points!
I had already heard 'BNR' once before the contest but I enjoyed it a lot more hearing it in the contest after it not really grabbing me the first time! Thanks blacksquare for another handful of points as well.

26 RISER ◼ CRASHDÏET 'Generation Wild’

Why 'Generation Wild'?

I've known ‘Generation Wild’ since before I joined Buzzjack. It just has that anthemic quality that I generally want my Nuggets entries to have. I think the chorus is memorable and will make a big impression, but I also think it could be polarizing!

Riser pushes Gang of Youths back into first place... again.

There is only one vote left. It's now impossible for anyone below And So I Watch You from Afar to make it, sadly — but anything in that top four could do it. Who is it going to be?

There we go, I was finding it hard to comment without revealing too much - also thought TORRES might've been my 12, glad to see it top 10 anyway!

Yeah, turns out my entry was very polarizing, I've counted 3 fans though at least.

27 SEVERIN ◼ Mishkin Fitzgerald 'Seraphim'

Why 'Seraphim'?

Mishkin is one of Brighton's most accomplished and diverse musicians but something of a well kept secret (she rarely plays locally), and although far from her best, Seraphim showcases her more accessible side, one usually to be found on her solo work. The track was chosen as it provides an easy gateway to her for those who might like what they hear and because she deserves to be heard.
