The early 80s medley craze finally leaves the rate with this track.

(#2 for 2 weeks in September 1986 behind “Don’t Leave Me This Way” by The Communards)

So the voters with all their votes left in the rate are JulianT, JackJones, ...Ready For It, and Bjork.

Tomorrow we'll start eliminated (potentially) people's top 10 favourite tracks in the rate!

Kayleigh would have been a deserved #1 for sure. Just can’t get fully behind any singer calling himself Fish though.

'Stars On 45' is a bit of a guilty pleasure (also helped by revolving around Beatles songs) but didn't quite like it enough to point
Kayleigh is my favourite Marillion song, although with only 19 points, I guess Rollo's is something else.

It wouldn't even be in my top 50 Marillion songs and the last time their forum ran a poll, I don't think it made the top 100 but it was a good song to release as a single at the time and helped the Misplaced Childhood album get to number 1.

When Will I Be Famous? I doubt my streak will last much longer.

Yeah 'Kayleigh' is a rather generic 80s soft rock heartbreak song, but still a good song!

'Incommunicado' is better in my opinion!

Poor Jason Donovan. His only 2 number 2 singles got eliminated yesterday. :(

His real name is Derek Dick or something like that, so a name change was needed

think the Fish nickname is from when he was young cos he was spending looks of time in the bathtub

:D

Whaaaaat at Jermaine Stewart being out this early - that is leagues above everything else revealed so far (well, out of the small handful I have actually heard :kink:), for shame!

Quite like 'Wings Of A Dove' too, Madness are always fun.

Like the title says this served as the theme to the BBC dramatisation of the life of the former PM.

(#2 for 2 weeks behind “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” by Tight Fit

Maybe it’s over familiar a touch now (I blame that Lolly cover) but this picks up three voters.

Only Love Nana Mouskouri (Voter: JackJones)

(#2 for 1 week in February 1986 behind “The Sun Always Shines On TV” by A-Ha

Another TV tie in- this was the theme to “Mistral’s Daughter” which was shown on BBC 1.

Wonderful World Sam Cooke (Voter: Chartjack2)

(#2 for 1 week in April 1986 behind “Living Doll” by Cliff Richard & The Young Ones

Re-issued as part of a Levi campaign, it improved considerably on its original No 27 peak.

Heartache Pepsi & Shirlie (Voter: Bjork)

(#2 for 2 weeks in February 1987 behind “I Knew You Were Waiting For Me” by Aretha Frankln & George Michael)

Famously the former Wham! backing singers were denied by George Michael in some chart irony.

If You Don't Know Me By Now Simply Red (Voter: AaronTM- 5 points, …Ready for it- 9 points, Torple- 7 points)

(#2 for 3 weeks in April 1989 behind “Eternal Flame” by The Bangles

The first of two Simply Red tracks in the rate, it also means that every voter has now lost points!

awww I command you all to listen to Wonderful World as penance for not voting for it xx

Hey now, Mickey is a classic, something that truly shows age has no barriers x

I almost painted Chi Mai as well, it's a lovely piece of music.

High 5 Jade - sorry I didn’t manage to give Chi Mai more than 3. It’s gorgeous.

Glad I wasn't its sole voter at least! I suppose it is a 70s song although I do associate it with this decade as my initial exposure was its 80s chart placement.

Votes lost so far:

18 Ennio Morricone - Chi Mai

12 Prince - Batdance

05 Pointer Sisters - Automatic
