don't get me wrong, I am a huge mimi webb fan (one of a small number on here) but even I would prefer to see kate in the top 40 over the new mimi track just because of how incredible it is to see an almost 40 year old track in the top 40 due to a tv show!

I notice that her Greatest Hits is in the top 10 of iTunes as well, here for this revival continuing to spread.

True but with 2+ million streams that is doing I think it has a chance to chart high without airplay...usually new songs that debut high on Hot 100 don't have airplay support right away either!!!

Mimi Webb is one of the worst new artists around with the cringiest vocals, cannot listen to her for more than 10 seconds

Quite unexpected to see Declan McKenna get an actual charting single (granted Brazil was already fairly big beforehand given its streaming numbers), makes you wonder how many tracks like this could easily take off if given the chance...

 

The good thing is that Running Up That Hill is not slowing down and it's still growing

in the US 2 days ago it was on 700K, yesterday on 1.3 million and today over 2.1 million

I haven't seen Stranger Things but I've definitely listened to Running Up That Hill because of the resurgence of interest so even word of mouth is helping it

This is quite possibly the most offensive post I’ve ever seen in the chart forum. My goodness.

 

One can only hope to OCC will reset Kate’s track for the publicity it would bring by going to no.1. Non chart geeks might even take notice.

I was thinking that if Kate's label are a bit cheeky they could actually argue that the original song that charted in the mid 80s was Running Up that Hill

but actually the song got retitled later when she released her GH and from then on it was called Running Up that Hill(A Deal with God)

so maybe they could use the different name to argue for a reset hahaha :D

The thing with 'Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)', the song just works perfectly with the show 'Stranger Things' and that horror scene with Max in episode 4 is just iconic. They really emphasised perfectly the power of music and mental health in that scene alone.

 

Kate Bush is a musical genius so of course her music was always going to live on, she never pandered to the latest trend and just stayed true to her artistry whilst having commercial success, that's rare especially when some of Kate Bush's music would be considered really weird, especially to young people today.

I’m loving seeing Kate Bush doing this well. The song is one of the best ever written and opens what is arguably one the best albums ever made. It’s just so refreshing seeing an amalgamation of true artistry via a perfect match of song and story converting to such levels of popularity in a landscape that so often dominated by fleeting TikTok trends.

I hope the momentum will continue into next week and she'll get a full tracking week with massive streams. Would love to see it re-peak or get a new peak in the UK chart.

 

Thankfully it should easily get new peaks in music charts across the world. In the US it'll easily beat its previous beat of #30. Depending on how its gains continue there/how much of a lead on streaming it builds, it may even have a good chance of top 5 or even #1 on the Hot 100. It made it to #1 on US spotify today gaining over 800k streams (~2.1 million total) :o Hopefully it'll keep up those gains for a few days yet.
