Welcome to the 31st edition of Unknown Pleasures, the song contest for fans of indie, rock and alternative music. Last time, Mikko Joensuu won with his eleven minute epic, 'There Used To Be A Darkness', which means that I am your host this time. I hope this encourages you all to enter long songs for this contest but if you'd rather enter something a bit shorter, that will be fine.

Here are the rules on what you can enter:

1. The artist or band must not have reached the top 75 of the UK singles chart, nor the top 40 of the UK albums chart. We are looking for obscure songs that will be new discoveries for most, if not all, the other participants.

2. The song can't be featured on the current UK release schedule.

3. The song can't have been submitted to any previous song contest on Buzzjack. Here are the archives for you to check (some of them are not up to date) :

Unknown Pleasures

Nuggets

BJSC

Club Bizarre

PFSC

4. Considering this is the Indie/Rock/Alternative forum, try to send something that fits in here. This is a refuge from generic pop pap.

5. Artists sent will be considered on a first come, first served basis, so if your artist gets taken, you will need to find something else.

6. This is an anonymous contest, do not reveal what you have entered before the results.

When you have decided what song to enter, please send the details to myself by PM. I will need:

Artist name

Song title

Youtube link

The deadline for entries is Wednesday 22nd June

Let's get plenty of entries. New participants are very welcome. There will be at least 14 days to listen to the songs so don't worry if you are going on holiday soon, you should still be able to take part.

Ooh this is earlier than expected but that's not a problem as I have a perfect song for this :cheeseblock: I did consider it for BJSC, but I think it would be more appreciated here.

One of these contests dropping before I even started considering harassing Savan about it, we love to see it! :basil:

I don't think I immediately have anything I feel like sending to this so I shall have to have a search (which is probably for the best because I usually bomb when I send songs that I had lying around from previous BJSC potentials etc.)

Confirmed something I heard quite a few months back that I was specifically saving for the next Unknown Pleasures!
Ooh yes, hopefully I can find something to send! If not I'll just use the song I was saving for Nuggets.
aye I have some entries on the boil that will definitely fit in here, will probably choose over the weekend
was gonna send something indie poppy but apparently the band's debut album went top 20 in the UK so sending a [retracted bc I forgot this is anonymous]

Sent something, struggled with this TBH

I had nothing, and than a few came to mind but wasn't able to send my #1 unfortunately and my #2 may be too indie - can't find them anywhere on Youtube!

Didn't think I'd be confirming so soon but actually just stumbled across something now which I think fits well enough so I'm in!

(I still don't expect it to do particularly well but hey)

Oops missed this... I'm coming for the last place b*tches!
Confirmed! I had about 5 potentials from the same artist but I've finally made up my mind.
Ooh, I didn't realise this was coming back already, thank you for allowing at least 2 weeks to listen to all the songs- the last edition I had to rush my listening as I was heading off on holiday the week of the deadline. Have sent something that has been on my potentials list for this for some time, looking forward to making some great discoveries as always.
