It does sound like Mc Hammer but it actually samples Rick James's "Super Freak".

MC Hammer sampled Rick James’ Superfreak. It was also sampled by the Beatfreakz in 2006 too.

Oh good to seeing 'Sunroof' far higher on Apple than it has lately. Should safely be top 40 this week then.

I realise gay clubs are absolutely NOT the way to work out what’s gonna be a hit but it’s been a long time since I’ve heard a new Nicki song played as soon as it’s released and being spoken about by a lot of people but I heard it twice last night and everyone went wild.

 

Think this might actually get her her first hit in a while.

Great to see "2 Be Loved (Am I Ready)" entering the top 100 on Apple Music. I hope it'll start getting playlist support on spotify and be playlisted by radio soon. Massive hit in the making. Already has had 4 weeks in the top 100 on the singles chart. Should be safe for another week if it's climbing/entering the Apple Music chart now.

 

Happy to see Alesso & Zara Larsson surging up the spotify charts. Dare I say it might have a chance of becoming a top 20 hit now with spotify support? I assume it may be doing something on Tiktok for it to be surging so much? Or is it just through finally getting playlist support?

Omg!! Yeah I’ve seen that Ghost song on the viral Spotify chart for a while, glad to see it enter here. It’s definitely one of their more commercial sounding songs though. (Not a bad thing haha)

What does though? So many different genres/styles have gone viral on TikTok at this point.

 

I think the main thing is usually a strong/catchy hook, and Mary On a Ghost absolutely has that.

Believe it or not record labels actually do use reception in clubs as tools to know what artists/songs to promote and even for new artists to sign. They send A&R scouts out to random clubs, concerts, live performances, etc. To see what songs and artists are being played and what reception they get. So if there was one at your club last night he'll be reporting that back to the label It sounds like the best job ever to me. :lol:
