August 8, 20223 yr Beyoncé has released several remixes for 'Break My Soul' and new one with Madonna. do they all count towards 'Renaissance' album sales for chart, or just for 'Break My Soul' in the singles chart? I think they count for the singles chart, but not the albums chart.
August 8, 20223 yr I think KSI/Tom will get the top 3 debut this week, and I think HISTORY will do similarly to OUT OUT last summer, debuted to the middle of the chart and climbed to the top 10 in a few weeks
August 8, 20223 yr I mean, Beyoncé's in her 2nd week and Eminem's is a greatest hits - context changes things slightly...! Aware of that - album sales are still grim however it’s dressed up, with the Top 2 big named acts shifting less than 5k just shows what a mess the rest of the album chart is in. Renaissance is in its second week and it’s the Monday update. Thanks for letting me know it’s Monday
August 8, 20223 yr All the new ones outside the Top 40: 64. Calvin Harris, Charlie Puth & Shenseea - Obsessed 65. Maisie Peters - Blonde 70. Harry Styles - Matilda 83. The Killers - boy 85. Sofia Carson - Come Back Home 87. Jax - Victoria's Secret 88. David Guetta - Family Affair (Dance For Me)
August 8, 20223 yr So there will be a battle for albums #1, but instead of Eminem vs. Calvin, looks like it'll be Beyoncé vs. Harry - could be a close one too. The remixes of Break My Soul won't make a jot of difference to the album sales as it's already quite comfortably the highest streamed track so its streams will be downweighted to the average from the 3rd highest track onwards. Wonder if One Kiss will wind up as Calvin's 2nd highest track - I think the rule allows the record company to nominate the 4th highest track to replace the 3rd, but not the 2nd. I suppose Potion could still get an auto reset by Friday. On a similar theme, there can't be much between Matilda and Sushi Restaurant, but I expect the former will stay in. Ruth (not RUTH) heading out of the Top 75 as it stands - hang in there with the 30th week in sight!
August 8, 20223 yr Ruth (not RUTH) heading out of the Top 75 as it stands - hang in there with the 30th week in sight! She always ends up higher than her Monday position so should be fine for Week 39, but Week 30 now looking in doubt!
August 8, 20223 yr I know Kylie/Jason and 1975 will almost certainly not end up in the top 40 by end of week so won't count those but encouraging to see 7 new tracks by different artists (or combinations) set to be new entries this week. That appears to be very rare these days.
August 8, 20223 yr Probably likely to drop out of the top 100 by the end of the week but I was not expecting to see Mall Grab's album in the midweek top 40! *.* I'm not surprised Eminem's album isn't heading for #1 really, greatest hits aren't the pure sellers they once were and most of his residually popular songs on streaming were on the first Curtain Call. I expect that will be back ahead of this new one within 2 or 3 weeks at most. Calvin already being as low as #5 is a little surprising/disappointing though. Wonder if One Kiss will wind up as Calvin's 2nd highest track - I think the rule allows the record company to nominate the 4th highest track to replace the 3rd, but not the 2nd. Wasn't 'The Family Madrigal' meant to be the 2nd highest Encanto song the week it was starred out to allow 'What Else Can I Do?' in instead?
August 8, 20223 yr I sort of had a feeling Calvin would probably go low top 10 if that, this whole era has pretty much been a tumbleweed.
August 8, 20223 yr I mean not really? 'Potion' and 'Stay With Me' have both been fairly big hits. Not his biggest ever of course, but enough so that I would have expected that to translate to a fairly easy top 3 for the album at least.
August 9, 20223 yr I mean not really? 'Potion' and 'Stay With Me' have both been fairly big hits. Not his biggest ever of course, but enough so that I would have expected that to translate to a fairly easy top 3 for the album at least. They’ve been hits due to the name power but they haven’t been overly well received imho
August 9, 20223 yr just checked and the rule says labels con only ask for the 3rd and 4th charting songs to be switched not the 2nd... but who knows with the occ :D
August 9, 20223 yr Wasn't 'The Family Madrigal' meant to be the 2nd highest Encanto song the week it was starred out to allow 'What Else Can I Do?' in instead? From memory it was the week Surface Pressure went to ACR, so in the latest published chart The Family Madrigal was the 3rd highest although in the new mids it was the second highest. I guess it would be the former that counts and so would have met the rule to get TFM starred out.
August 9, 20223 yr So it would be a similar situation now as One Kiss was the 3rd highest last week. (All speculation of course, we don't know if such a request has been made for those Calvin songs.)
August 9, 20223 yr I know I’m old but it seems you have to have a degree in maths to work out how the charts are calculated these days. What happened to the fun of the charts? It’s so clinical now
August 9, 20223 yr not gonna complain when in the 80s and 90s they used multipliers to calculate sales so basically they got reports for like 5% of the shops and then multiplied sales x like 15 or something to get the final figure :D
