Not mad on Macarena, although it's iconic. Beautiful Stranger is great, but again got cut when I whittled down the shortlist, I LOVE the Austin Powers film it came from, and the whole 60s vibe of the song and video.

 

Some songs did very well getting to the top 50 - the opera contingent out for Nessun Dorma and Time To Say Goodbye *.*

Macarena is a lovely guilty pleasure but I didn't have room for it.

 

I love to see Kylie Minogue with 2 songs left in the top 50 and Madonna with only one. :lol:

The 4 biggest surprises in the top 50 are the 2 opera songs, On a Ragga Tip and Tubthumping. The other ones were all predictable imo.

Aw at Madge dropping at one place off. I did have a hunch one of mine or even two of my votes would be in this last pair before the top 50 so whilst it's annoying to lose one before, at least it's only one lol. 'Beautiful Stranger' is brill though and takes me back to being a 7 year old child.

 

'Macarena' obviously recognisable through the school disco's :lol: a bop but definitely not one to include in my votes haha.

Still not lost any of my top 10 but 'Beautiful Stranger' is my new favourite song to drop out so far! It's pretty much a continuation of the Ray Of Light era with its dreamy synth sound :wub:

Expected a big drop and 2-8 is like a typical 2nd week in the late 90s, but still only 20 points off the top 3. I actually bought Beautiful Stranger and preferred it to the Ray Of Light Singles, but it's yet another 1999 #2 I didn't have room for. Heyyyyy, Macarena - it did a lot better than that other disco staple from the 90s, Whigfield's Saturday Night, did in the 90s #1s rate.

doh! lost 2 biggies for me in Madonna and Dirty cash, both fab-u-lous, leaving me at 11th again. Deja Vu continues as does dandy on top.

 

Ghetto Superstar, sos it's no Bee Gees, Macarena is fun if you've had a few in bar, Steps is a great toon, and yay at opera going top 50 never would have thought it....!

Only half of my votes left - Good top 50 with some choices which i had never heard of before the rate but liked.

9/10 of my top 10 making the top 50, will take that! Aww at 'Macarena' just missing out though, y'all are no fun :teresa: 'Beautiful Stranger' was also not far from my votes. Look at me being the exact median poster at the moment :lol:

Italia 90 was a defining moment in England football so perhaps it’s fitting that this makes the top 50- must say I’m surprised though.

 

Another Night was 31st in my votes - as you say a great slice of mid 90s Euro dance.

Another Night is fab and another one that just got the chop in my final cull. Not a huge fan of big tenor arias really but maybe Nessun Dorma has a particular memory associated for some.

Love Another Night, it did very well to beat some of the other 90s dance classics that left long ago.

Amazing that Nessun Dorma got so high here (and Time to Say Goodbye is still to come!), I thought my 12 would be one of the only points it got! I'm not normally a fan of opera, but the build-up of the piece and power of the vocals are spellbinding. One of the best World Cup-related songs x

I bought the Real Mccoy album at the time, I absolutely loved Another Night, Run Away, Love and Devotion and Automatic Lover. Another Night in particular is eurodance at its best.

 

 

 

Also, if I'm not mistaken, I think 28 of my votes made the top 50 so it's unsurprising that I think the list for the top 50 looks pretty darn great :wub:

Another Night got my 1 point narrowly ahead of a few other dance songs which left the rate long ago, but their follow-up Run Away (correct spelling and all) was great too so it wasn't a fluke. Nessun Dorma may even have made my top 50 if I'd gone that far.
