bizarre that Nessum Dorma made the t50, never in a thousand years I would have predicted that (or voted for it)

love Another Night and even bought the album, the singles + Automatic Lover were all great tracks

Here’s Popchartfreak’s 30 pointer and a song which surprised some when it went to No 2 but it’s another example of the eclectic 90s where anything could be a massive hit!

This cover become Lennox’s highest peaking solo hit and did considerably better than the original version.

and there it was bang next door to Pavarotti :magic: an extremely moving and emotional piece that was. Also 'No More I Love You's' a stellar track from Annie as well but I was expecting that one to drop out sooner rather than later for some reason.

Top 50 clearly the glass ceiling for the opera songs then! Much like Nessun Dorma, Time to Say Goodbye has a really brilliant build and instrumental, it's really quite beautiful even if it has become a bit overused as stock sad music.

I absolutely love the fact that two opera songs not only actually charted but both made number 2 in the same decade. It's part of the reason why this is my favourite decade for runners up.

No More I Love Yous  - again didn’t quite find room.

I’m here for classical pieces doing well in general but not so fussed about those 2.

Time to Say Goodbye is a beautiful song, I wasn't following the charts at the time but can only imagine the surprise at it going to No.2. I guess Radio 2 must have been hammering it.

Also the top five company it had when it debuted was fantastic (aside from the No Mercy follow-up) - Lovefool, You're Not Alone and Love Shine A Light joining it <3

Funny the operatic songs are back to back when they only had three voters in common. Love both of these , had no idea ‘No More I Love Yous’ was a cover.
Ah yes cue my 30 pointer out next then...

I wonder if Popchartfreak receives privileged information from Gezza. ;)

wasn't expecting Time to say Goodbye to be Pop's 30 pointer, was expecting something more Pet Shop Boys-esque :D

I generally like classical music but not opera so not a big fan of any of those

Really like No More I Love Yous and did buy the Medusa album back in the day, although I'm not a fan of artists putting a covers album as

sophomore album or a follow-up to a big hit album

‘No More I Love Yous’ delighted it made the top 50, good taste Robo!!

Whitney’s revival was cemented with this single which saw her get two top 3 singles in a row for the first time in her career.

Easily this lots biggest hit which went all the way in the US.

Think I've also climbed back into the top 5 of the voter league (well, joint 5th with Dot) after those couple of reveals - both decent songs but not really on my radar for this rate.
'My Love Is Your Love' is a good Whitney track that was probably in the shortcut although I can't remember now.
