November 12, 20222 yr Wow 4th I think is the highest I’ve ever been in one of these leagues! Don’t think I pointed anything between 40 and 31. Everybody In The Place was my 31st.
November 12, 20222 yr Author NO 30- 162 PTS Wind Of Change The Scorpions (Voters: Jimwatts- 30pts, Chez Wombat- 16pts, JulianT- 25pts, Roba!- 30 pts, Narcow- 15pts, Chartjack2- 22pts, Coi- 24pts) (#2 for 2 weeks in October 1991 behind “Everything I Do” by Bryan Adams) A pretty much pan-European chart topper, it was stopped here by the song that stopped everything making No 1 in 1991 (almost). However It picks up two maximum points from Jimwatts and Roba! Though only 7 voters in all. eawxBZg0NV8
November 12, 20222 yr Author NO 29- 167 PTS The Boy Is Mine Brandy & Monica (Voters: Daan- 10pts, Colm- 29pts, West- 5pts, Torple- 22pts, Gezza- 15pts, Mack- 17pts, Leonardo- 24pts, Dircadirca- 10pts, Chartjack2- 20pts, Jade- 13pts, Dandy*- 2pts) (#2 for 1 week in June 1998 behind “C’est La Vie” by B*Witched) Surely we can call this a classic now? It returned a few years later in remixed and mashed up form for the Stuntmasterz and was a 13 week No 1 in the US, it’s also Buzzjack’s third favourite No 2 of 1998. qSIOp_K5GMw
November 12, 20222 yr Both of those are decent but not all-time greats. My mate got Tina Cousins to sign his CD when she did a P.A. in Bournemouth in the 00's while waiting for a taxi home. He also got disappointed while he was in Australia in the 90's and got back to find his good mate hadn't got in touch to get him as a backing dancer on Top Of The Pops as promised. She was lead singer of the track Insanity from Oceanic.
November 12, 20222 yr I'm not a particularly big fan of 90s R&B music but 'The Boy Is Mine' is an exception.
November 12, 20222 yr Ooh two 30's for Scorpions :o someone's got to defend a classic rock song and the lyrics and song was extremely meaningful for me. It's done very well considering Buzzjack seem to have a thing about rock ballads evidently. Saying that Scorpions also have a couple of great upbeat numbers too. Edited November 12, 20222 yr by Roba!
November 12, 20222 yr I was also thinking that Wind of Change had made it much higher than I thought as well! Though I for one am very happy it's done so well, I always see people saying it's naff and I really disagree - it's a really epic, rousing rock song with an excellent solo. I really love the historical lyrics and indeed how it became an anthem of the changes that were to come. Apparently, they've changed the lyrics of some of it it this year in the light of the Ukraine war as it was seen as romanticising Russia oops :x
November 12, 20222 yr It wasn’t romanticising Russia but celebrating the downfall of communism and authoritarianism in the East, right? So tbh it’s pretty relevant now. The lyrics are amazing - it’s a perfect song for both 1991 and 2022.
November 12, 20222 yr High five for Rob B-) I did not expect Wind Of Change to make the top 30, every time Gezza had mentioned that a 30-pointer was going tomorrow, I've thought that's got to be it. As it happens, it's probably the only song I voted for that I don't remember from the decade itself, but I've grown to love it in recent years. It's just epic.
November 12, 20222 yr The Boy Is Mine is fab. Well deserved top 30 here. Even if Brandy and Monica didn’t get on…..!
November 12, 20222 yr Surprised to hear some people don’t like Wind Of Change - it’s just fantastically rousing and beautiful. When that last chorus comes in it gets me every time.
November 12, 20222 yr Pleasantly surprised that Wind of Change got as far as the top 30! The Boy Is Mine is another good one, didn't quite get into my votes but again wasn't far off.
November 12, 20222 yr Surprised to hear some people don’t like Wind Of Change - it’s just fantastically rousing and beautiful. When that last chorus comes in it gets me every time. It’s just standard 90s MOR soft rock to me.
November 12, 20222 yr Wind Of Change is very love or hate and I'm in the hate side. It is too MOR for my taste. I'm sorry but I prefer 99 Souls The Girl Is Mine to Brandy & Monica The Boy Is Mine. :P Edited November 12, 20222 yr by Jason

November 12, 20222 yr Those are 2 gems. The Scorpions track is an anthem of a moment in history that seemed to offer hope for the world before Putin screwed it all up (and supported much screwing up politically elsewhere), and he's still screwing as many people as he can to support his own nostalgic view on having elites ordering the plebs to stay poor through fear and mind control. So, these days Winds Of Change has a large element of sadness in it. The Boy Is Mine is just fab. I'm not sure it's the greatest song of the last 600 years, possibly Greensleeves has the longest legs  I could see a synth-heavy dance remix with new lyrics doing the business sometime if someone fancies a copyright-free go at it.....
November 12, 20222 yr The production is just so amazing. Such a pleasure to listen to on head phones.
