Too low for JLS :puke:

I do admit to liking Frankee's version but I still wouldn't go out of my way to hear it really (although I did once a few years ago but that's a rare occasion and it was with the video as well).

The Pat Boone song is alright I guess but again meh.

I'm attributing JLS not making the top 20 to Rio not voting (see page 1) :D The Club Is Alive was my +39 and their X Factor cameo was on my +31. They had a lot of potential as a group but I just think they had poor quality control from whoever was choosing their songs, especially after their debut

Haha even an extra 40 points with nothing else scoring anything would only get it to 22nd!

agree JLS should be much higher

The Frankee song is hilarious if you consider it was all a fabrication and they didnt know each other

“Did you know I had a big-a hit-a song in-a Italy with-a dis?”

Number One for 3 weeks in February / March 1981, this famously held off “Vienna” by Ultravox for all 3 of those weeks. Joe Dolce Music Theatre was a one man cabaret show. He used some of his Italian grandparents’ favourite phrases in the song, which he wrote about Italians living in Australia. More recently he has written some acclaimed poetry.

I don’t know if this is so maligned primarily for blocking “Vienna”, but to me it’s quite a fun little piece of novelty. It’s-a not so bad.

Number One for 4 weeks in November /December 1972, this held off “Crazy Horses” by The Osmonds and “Gudbuy T’Jane” by Slade. The Osmond family had its revenge immediately as Chuck was knocked off in time for Christmas by a certain song still to come in this countdown.

Inevitably the song was banned by many radio stations. Mary Whitehouse wrote to the BBC about how “One teacher told us of how she found a class of small boys with their trousers undone, singing the song and giving it the indecent interpretation”. Shocking. Chuck said of his only chart topper “I LOVED that song because that little, weenie song made my wallet so far and happy”. Fair enough. I find the song itself fairly unlistenable myself but I know others find it fun.

Hope Lena (I listened to this and didn't quite get why this is disliked very much looking at the heat 1 votes. I don't think it's that bad at all really but then again country and Christian isn't a buzzjack fave lol) and Grandma slip out soon. 'Come On You Reds' was pretty inoffensive for me but everything else remaining is to be expected I think.

Edit :Shout is ok as well but it's not a patch on the original.

Only two of my bottom 10 left now. At the other end of the scale, Shaddup You Face was my +32, the Vienna blocking notwithstanding I just find all the off-music talking irritating. Although on another day I might have ranked my +30 and +29 above it, and they're still to come.
It's a shame that both 'Vienna' and 'Crazy Horses' were blocked from #1 by two pretty naff songs (the latter is an actually good Osmonds song unlike the Jimmy one still standing here)

The only thing that Chuck Berry song is good for is the Simpsons gag based on it. It's otherwise garbage and pretty creepy. That's the second one of my top 10 to drop out.

Joe Dolce I have always had a soft spot for though, much as 'Vienna' obviously deserved #1.

Remaining:

Long Haired Lover From Liverpool - Little Jimmy Osmond (1972)

Seeing the title of this track, it could be a big hit in someone else's personal chart if it was a new song. ;)

Im actually quite happy joe dolce blocked vienna - its topped modt polls as the greatest number 2 ever since when its not aha and is gondly remembered for it. And speaking as a huge Marx Brothers fan - the original comedy anarchists - Shaddap ya Face is basically a sweet chico marx impression.

Anything that upset Mary Whitehouse also totally deserved getting to number one. She went for doctor who as well a bit of innuendo about masturbation which i was led to believe was disgusting and unnatural by the likes of her and society at large. So chuck berry was doing everyone a favour laughing at it. Unlike his actual creepy and seedy moment sticking a hidden camera in the ladies loo of his bar.

Number One for 2 weeks in May 1994 before being knocked off by some non #1 called “Love Is All Around”, this is the only chart topper but among 6 Top 20 hits for the team under some slightly different artist names. It is the only chart topper by a club side. Status Quo produced the song and it was based on their 1988 #5 hit “Burning Bridges” and released in advance of the 1994 FA Cup final. Opponents Chelsea also released a single which reached #23.

Football songs often include obnoxious raucous singing and are devoid of originality. Sure enough this ticks both of those boxes, but as a neutral non football fan I don’t consider it to be one of the worst offenders of its kind. Clearly for many of you it is up there, but it has escaped the title of worst ever football related chart topper.

Yeah I didn't mind that as alluded to in my post earlier today (8 points I think I gave it).

EDIT: 9 i mean.

Come on You Reds was the second lowest I had left (the lowest I have a soft spot for, but I kinda get why it's this high x), for a football song, it's not horrible. It at least has quite a catchy melody and doesn't murder a classic unlike a certain other football song here...
