October 24, 20223 yr There was no pre-release single, but it was available for pre-order months before release. I thought the pre-release singles for The Car would turn the old Monkeys fans away!Wasn't it only a month or so on pre-order? Icr  --- The variants argument is low-key quite useless tbh. How many fans actually buy more than one copy of the album (unless it had different tracks on each of them etc.. - which no one seems to do and I, low-key, don't get why? Lmao)? I'm willing to bet it's a small handful/the stan of STANS. Like, ofc it helps (and is a difference in these chart battles). This one particularly, due to the back covers all making a clock etc... but I really think people over estimate how many people actually buy more than one copy (at best a CD + vinyl as opposed to every version of the CD/vinyl that is available) Like someone else said, I think her streaming numbers are the most impressive thing about this campaign tbh.
October 24, 20223 yr Taylor is helping keep record both the concept of an album and record companies alive with multiple vinyl variations. Instead of trying to diminish her success, it should be celebrated.
October 24, 20223 yr I’ll get attacked for stating the obvious, I know. But the facts are not always popular. Obvious to you. And I think you’ll find you are stating an opinion, not a fact. We are all entitled to our opinions but opinions are not facts.
October 24, 20223 yr I do love it when artists do release multiple formats though. It gives options to people. Gone are the days of just ordering a standard CD, have a coloured variation instead  It's a smart marketing move and really puts so much interest into the release of the album, imo.
October 24, 20223 yr I’d rather AM won the race because Alex has had all his albums go #1 whereas not all of Taylor’s albums have gone #1 and I wouldn’t wanna see his streak of #1 albums being ruined

Agreed.. if people cared that much, they would've done it for Folklore which had 8 vinyl variants. By end of Saturday she had already quadrupled Folklore's opening week here. The Red TV also only had the standard black and Red target exclusive and even that broke the US record for weekly vinyl sales. I have many friends who are massive fans of Taylors and have been for 10+ years and I don't know anybody other than myself who has bought more than 1 copy (and some of them did so at the very last minute just to get the pre-sale code when it was announced you had to purchase before midnight on Friday), it really is the mega stans who would buy them all.. especially in this economy

October 24, 20223 yr And if Taylor does hog the top 3 this week, I can see Sam returning to the top 3 next week
October 24, 20223 yr And if Taylor does hog the top 3 this week, I can see Sam returning to the top 3 next week I would have thought that's pretty obvious lol
October 24, 20223 yr I would have thought that's pretty obvious lol the chances of having the top 3 for two weeks are very slim, has anyone actually had the top 3 for 2+ weeks before?
October 24, 20223 yr the chances of having the top 3 for two weeks are very slim, has anyone actually had the top 3 for 2+ weeks before?I think Ed did it in 2018? 01. Shape Of You 02. Galway Girl 03. Castle On The Hill In that order for 2 weeks (maybe more icr)
October 24, 20223 yr Yeah Ed did it following Divide but that’s a phenomenon that’s not been matched by him or anyone else since (despite having triggered a load of rule changes or course).
October 24, 20223 yr Yeah Ed did it following Divide but that’s a phenomenon that’s not been matched by him or anyone else since (despite having triggered a load of rule changes or course). Justin Bieber was the first to get the top 3 in 2015. I thought it was for more than 1 week but I could be wrong.
October 24, 20223 yr Bieber only did it for one week, as did Harry (Bieber went to 1/3/4 the following week and Harry to 1/4/6). Bieber is still unique in achieving it outside of the first week (or first 3 weeks in Ed's case) of an album bomb though, in fact all three of his songs had at least 8 weeks on the chart when he pulled it off! He did have several other weeks with 3 of the top 5.
October 24, 20223 yr Hi my huns Dont really care for Tailor Swiff but as if Kylie Minogues re release of the 1998 flop album impossible princess is top 5 on 6k sales. THAT is the real discussion of the week. Thanks my huns Just Carol Honey ❤️

The artist’s websites always tell you to preorder and then in the small print it says “purchase not necessary” and you just sign up for free lol
