Posted November 14, 20222 yr Hello! Welcome to the 15th edition of the Indie/Alternative/Rock forum's Nuggets contest. As the winner of the previous contest (and for the third time no less!) it is down to me to end 2022 in the same way as I started, by hosting a song contest within one of BuzzJack's genre forums. How does this one work? To differentiate from others the theme of this is guitars, there are no restrictions by genre, release date of length of song, but all entries must be guitar based. There are some other rules to abide by too: Rules 01 The artist or band must not have reached the top 75 of the UK singles chart (ideally not the albums chart either). 02 The song cannot have been submitted to any previous song edition of Nuggets or Unknown Pleasures, the links for the archives are: Nuggets Archive Unknown Pleasures Archive 03 The contest is anonymous so please keep your entries to yourself — your entries will be revealed with the results. 04 If the same artist or band is entered by different people, then the first person to submit will be chosen. 05 The entries will be confirmed by the moderators of this forum to make sure they follow the rules above. To enter, simply click here. Your deadline for confirmations is 23:59 GMT Tuesday 22nd November 2022. Voting will then be open until around the 9th December, but I will try not to make it clash too much with any similar contests across the site. A reminder of why I'm hosting, the winning song of Nuggets #14: KennyHoopla - How Will I Rest In Peace If I'm Buried By a Highway??? November 14, 20222 yr Ooh I've actually got something for this, confirmed *.* (better go and look for PFSC now!)
November 14, 20222 yr Nuggets more than once in a calendar year :cheeseblock: My planned BJSC entry would be good for here actually, but might look for a back up anyway x
November 14, 20222 yr Entered! I was about to take this song off my BJSC potentials list but I've decided to give it a chance here instead.
November 15, 20222 yr :jump: Don't really have any guitarry songs hanging around so will have to search for this one. But hooray for a year with more than one edition of this again indeed x
November 15, 20222 yr hurray! I had better get looking among my niches (perhaps, I'm not always as obvious as some people think here)
November 15, 20222 yr Could the moderator decide if my entry is guitary enough because while it definitely does feature them, it also has a whole lot of synthy reverb. Very happy to take no for an answer!
November 16, 20222 yr I had an entry lined up for this but didn't know the criteria was so restrictive that ANY song by the act is forbidden not just the particular song which went top 100 D: I'll scurry through my potentials list as I think one or two fit the bill here.
November 16, 20222 yr Have sent something, sorry I missed the last contest - KennyHoopla tho, what a winner <3
November 17, 20222 yr @Rabbitfurcoat, what does guitar mean here? as in indie music? or heavy metal? or singer/songwriter/acoustic guitar counts too?
November 18, 20222 yr @Rabbitfurcoat, what does guitar mean here? as in indie music? or heavy metal? or singer/songwriter/acoustic guitar counts too? The lead instrument must be a guitar. Acoustic, singer-songwriter is fine and has been quite popular at times here among the indie, rock and metal. Just, as it's the indie forum, like with UP, anything too obviously pop is probably best avoided but that's up to you to decide.
November 19, 20222 yr Author Up to 17 entries now. I had an entry lined up for this but didn't know the criteria was so restrictive that ANY song by the act is forbidden not just the particular song which went top 100 D: I'll scurry through my potentials list as I think one or two fit the bill here. The rules might have changed to be more harsh than they once were to be honest, I sent The Joy Formidable last year who'd had albums reach 31 & 41, which isn't against these but discouraged. There's at least one entry so far that technically goes against those rules, but I wouldn't veto it. @Rabbitfurcoat, what does guitar mean here? as in indie music? or heavy metal? or singer/songwriter/acoustic guitar counts too? As Iz said, any kind of genre is fine as long as the guitar features prominently, so acoustic type songs are absolutely fine. Edited November 19, 20222 yr by RabbitFurCoat
November 20, 20222 yr For once, I have entered this. I have something that I think is brilliant, and am very interested to see what others make of it, and to discover other guitar gems of course! It might be more known than I'm aware of but the act has never charted and I can't find any mention of them ever on Buzzjack. Edited November 20, 20222 yr by gooddelta
November 21, 20222 yr I am considering entering this again I've just not found anything yet :') will look before the deadline tomorrow though.
November 21, 20222 yr Eep this deadline is creeping up, mental note to not forget this like I did with PFSC before it got extended  Is this your first time entering this Rich? (Welcome if so!)
