It doesn’t matter when the shows are, the sales will count for this week.

That hardly seems fair! :(

plus everybody does, it's not like it's been invented by Stormzy today
Cliff is really going for it, good on him putting in a fight for number 1, if he does it i think it would be his first number 1 album since 1993
I wouldn’t want to be in a chart fight with Cliff fans, they’re dedicated and will slaughter all before them

A real cliff hanger of a chart battle!

In today's sales flash (Wednesday November 30), just 600 chart units separate Stormzy at Number 1 and Cliff in second place, meaning there's still all to play for in one of the most nail-biting chart races of 2022.

Should Stormzy hold on, This Is What I Mean will see him manage a hat-trick of Official Number 1 albums. Previously, he's topped the chart with 2017 debut Gang Signs & Prayer and 2019 release Heavy Is The Head.

Cliff, meanwhile, boasts seven solo Number 1 albums; hoping to get an eighth under his belt this week. He's topped the chart with 21 Today (1961), The Young Ones (1961), Summer Holiday (1963), 40 Golden Greats (1977), Love Songs (1981), Private Collection (1988), The Album (1993).

That mean that if Sir Cliff reaches Number 1, he'll claim his first chart-topper in 29 years.

The 'Christmas With Cliff' magazine includes his new album in a card wallet, all the lyrics plus his thoughts about every song.

It’s available to buy in selected W H Smiths and Tesco stores.

'Christmas With Cliff' will be issued in chart eligible magazine format for the first time.

Featuring the full 13 track CD in a card wallet and a 20-page magazine with lyrics and Cliff's thoughts on every song, as well as an exclusive Christmas message from Cliff.

There are 8 magazines left in each of my 3 local Tesco stores.

Only 2 CDs (£11) in my local Asda store.

I’m assuming Cliff would be the oldest artist to reach #1 with original material on the albums chart?
It’s mental that I was championing Cliff’s album a few weeks ago and now he’s a solid contender against Stormzy of all people :funky: I can’t wait for the update :dancing:

How is it original material if most of his album is composed of covers?

There are 3 original songs, but yeah I definitely wouldn’t class it as an ‘original’ album.

well covers are original material because they are new versions of songs. i think the point is its newly recorded rather than a greatest hits /compilation

I hope RAYE can go top 10 and it looks like streaming will help Stormzy stop Cliff from going to #1. I also hope that Stormzy can push Anne-Marie out of the top 5

Edited by Hadji

I think Raye will sneak into the Top 10 on Friday. But I am out on Friday for an Xmas meal so I won't be able to listen to the charts this week
tbh i don't think its a case of raye 'sneaking in' to the top 10 - remember on monday she was still mid 20s on spotify so its only the past 2/3 days shes been top 5 - and shes combined #1 on spotify and #2 on apple today so with those streams added she'll easily be top 10!
it looks like streaming will help Stormzy stop Cliff from going to #1

Really?

If I were a betting man, I'd say Cliff has pretty much got this in the bag at this stage.

Wham! currently on course for the week at #9 that it needs.
