I like RAYE and everything, but srsly?

I didn't word that post very well. I meant to say that she has the potential to do so. When listening to escapism and especially the Thrill Is Gone i see a glimpse. I have faith in her

Can't help but think the lyric "gay happy meetings" in that Andy Williams song has an entirely different meaning now.

Isn't the evolution of language interesting?

Biography

The Pogues were an English or Anglo-Irish Celtic punk band fronted by Shane MacGowan and others, founded in Kings Cross, London in 1982, as "Pogue Mahone" – the anglicisation of the Irish Gaelic póg mo thóin, meaning "kiss my arse". The band reached international prominence in the 1980s and early 1990s, recording several hit albums and singles. MacGowan left the band in 1991 owing to drinking problems, but the band continued – first with Joe Strummer and then with Spider Stacy on vocals – before breaking up in 1996. The Pogues re-formed in late 2001, and played regularly across the UK and Ireland and on the US East Coast, until dissolving again in 2014. The group did not record any new material during this second incarnation. Their politically-tinged music was informed by MacGowan and Stacy's punk backgrounds, yet used traditional Irish instruments such as the tin whistle, banjo, cittern, mandolin and accordion. - Wikipedia

They’ve offered no commentary on the songs whatsoever, it really is a poor decision by Radio 1 to put these amateurs on air without any apparent training or rehearsal

They're offering many student presenters a slot over the festive period, they do it every year as it's a fantastic opportunity. Perhaps they'll never host on Radio 1 again but it's experience. It's a couple of hours and it's really not as serious as you're suggesting IMO

That means a new peak for Jingle Bell Rock for the second time this year!
The Pogues with their 12th separate run in the top 10 :cheeseblock:

Not a fan of FONY either.

I’m so festive!

Would you guys say that FONY is still in the big 3 Christmas songs in the UK (along with Last Christmas and AIWFCIY)?
Visiting the Top 10 for a twelfth different run. But not making the Top 5 for the first time since 2016 :/

:(

Why the sudden jump into the top 10 for Andy Williams?

Wahoo 2 new peaks for Kelly suprised she doesn't have 1 millionaire at least though

She has 3 - they went missing from her post somehow! Edited them back in now

Same here even with her two songs in BJSC I assumed it was a guy

I take it you didn't watch the videos then? :kink: (I guess I can see the confusion as she has a fairly deep voice but yes she is very much a woman x)

I can see this being the last one, but hope I’m wrong.

Would you guys say that FONY is still in the big 3 Christmas songs in the UK (along with Last Christmas and AIWFCIY)?

In my mind, yeah. Despite how it may not appear so these days.

Biography

Lizzo is here to let it out. Body positivity, queerness, the embrace of the self in all its possibilities: For her, the freer, the better. Yes, she’s a singer. And a rapper, and—wouldn’t you know it—a pretty impressive flautist. But she’s also an emblem for the idea that social progress starts from within, that her loving herself (and you loving you) is the first step to fighting the forces that keep marginalised people—Black, female, LGBTQ and otherwise—down. “I think that there’s a wave right now in human experience where we want to feel good, and we’re seeking out the practice of self-care and self-love,” she told Apple Music in 2020. “I think my music just happened to ebb and flow with the way we’re evolving as a people and a culture.”

Born Melissa Jefferson in 1988, she grew up between Detroit and Houston, making her way through the Minneapolis indie community in her early twenties. She worked steadily through the 2010s, forging a confident, outsized blend of gospel, R&B, hip-hop and pop before breaking through with 2019’s Cuz I Love You. She could be funny (“I just took a DNA test/Turns out I’m 100% that bitch,” she raps at the beginning of “Truth Hurts”), vulnerable (“Cuz I Love You”), quirky (“Batches & Cookies”) and empowering (“Juice”). In every case, though, her music brings a muchness, a saturated sense of vibrancy and humour and soul and self-assuredness that just kinda makes you feel good. It’s hard to argue it when, upon accepting the 2019 Apple Music Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year, she said emphatically, “I deserve it!” - Apple Music
