January 6, 20233 yr The song at No.71 doesn’t sound like a hit single at all! Surprised a short instrumental soundscape like that has gone viral. Sad that P!nk couldn’t get top 40, it feels like the song is everywhere except the streaming playlists evidently.

Sad that P!nk couldn’t get top 40, it feels like the song is everywhere except the streaming playlists evidently. I’ve heard it on the radio a fair bit here in Australia and it hasn’t even dented the top 50 and she use to rack up top 10 hits here with ease. Edited January 6, 20233 yr by One_For_Sorrow
January 6, 20233 yr I think Christmas Drillings is the first song with "Christmas" in the title to appear in the chart this late in January since Matt Terry - When Christmas Comes Around was at #96 exactly six years ago. Before that, you'd probably have to go back to Band Aid 20 in the early weeks of 2005, before even downloads were counted in the chart.
January 6, 20233 yr Firebabe falling so much despite "not" being a Christmas song :o incomprehensible it really is
January 6, 20233 yr Great to see 'Snowfall' entering! I checked it out earlier in the week after it made a dent in the mids and it's very soothing.

January 7, 20233 yr Yikes Tory Lanez being that close to entering the top 40, all those resets were worth it for that alone (although the danger of it going top 40 probably hasn't passed yet). A nice new peak for Hotel Ugly - I was thinking #66 seemed a bit on the low side for them in the mids, #47 is more what I was expecting, hope they can go top 40 soon. Also good to see new peaks for PinkPantheress and ThxSoMch and fingers crossed for them to make further progress too. I'm not quite sure why 'Lavender Haze' didn't get reset like everything else that went to ACR in December - maybe they did just decide 'Anti-Hero' getting the reset was enough for her lol - but whatever the reason I am glad because it means 'You're On Your Own, Kid' has finally charted, one of the best songs on 'Midnights' unfortunately not as keen on 'Bejeweled'. Also great that Metro Boomin's 3rd chart entry has switched as well, I did like 'Niagara Falls (Foot Or 2)' but 'Too Many Nights' is much better and probably my favourite song off his album! Not yet heard the rest of the newies in the top 100 (bar the Sub Focus one which as I posted elsewhere is just ok) but they all look pretty interesting so looking forward to checking them out. That Libianca song that's snuck in since the midweeks looks to be another afrobeats breakthrough. The song at No.71 doesn’t sound like a hit single at all! Surprised a short instrumental soundscape like that has gone viral. Worth noting that it has both 'sped up' and 'slowed & reverb' versions both with quite high streaming tallies on Spotify (which I guess explains how it's charted so high without appearing highly in any streaming charts). I have no idea how to check which version of it is actually (most) viral. But yes, quite refreshing to have an instrumental hit even if only a minor one for now and I imagine it sounds pretty atypical regardless of what speed it's played at! Don't forget that Merry Christmas was starred out at 40 as Ed already had 3 tracks this time last year..... ...which means that it did not appear in the chart so does not meet the criteria Jim is referring to. It's fine to point these things out as a footnote but can you please stop phrasing it as if stats being posted are invalid because you don't like the chart rules?
January 7, 20233 yr Pretty sure each artists is allowed 1 reset, so if Tay gets a reset for Anti-Hero she cannot for Lavender Haze yet was the same with Adele last year with Easy on Me
January 7, 20233 yr I imagine Tom Odell's 'Another Love' is in a league of its own (outside Christmas songs) in terms of no. Chart weeks so far (76) and being in the top 10. Amazing achievement for such an old track
January 7, 20233 yr Pretty sure each artists is allowed 1 reset, so if Tay gets a reset for Anti-Hero she cannot for Lavender Haze yet was the same with Adele last year with Easy on Me The reset for Lavender Haze would be for a new promotion asked for by the record company, while my impression is that the reset for Anti-Hero is an automatic reset by the OCC for the primary single at the time due to suppresssion of streams as a consequence of the christmas surge. In this way both could be reset within weeks of each other. Alternatively Lavender Haze may have to wait until Anti-Hero goes back to ACR - but I doubt it..... January 8, 20233 yr I imagine Tom Odell's 'Another Love' is in a league of its own (outside Christmas songs) in terms of no. Chart weeks so far (76) and being in the top 10. Amazing achievement for such an old track You're probably right! New Order - Blue Monday was in the Top 10 on its 74th chart week if you combine the original and 1988 remix, and 3 Lions was last in the Top 10 on its 67th week (again with both versions combined), although one suspects it will get back there in the future but that's more of a recurrence akin to Christmas songs. Edited January 8, 20233 yr by jimwatts
January 8, 20233 yr I am guessing they will wait until the music video before requesting a reset for Lavender Haze. Might as well keep the focus on Anti-Hero for now where it clearly has some legs still. Edited January 8, 20233 yr by GTH
January 8, 20233 yr Of course new promotion of Lavender Haze could lead to a 25% increase in streams and an automatic reset anyway without the re3cord company needing to request it....... Only time will tell....
January 8, 20233 yr Kings Of Leon's 'Sex On Fire' was in the top 10 on iirc its 53rd week in a consecutive chart run, I wonder if that is a record  (edit: *52nd) (edit 2: Lewis Capaldi's 'Someone You Loved' beat that quite handily anyway actually, its last top 10 week was its 62nd week charting in a row and 63rd in total)

January 9, 20233 yr You're probably right! Forgot about 'Three Lions' - of course that depends on England going far again! 'Blue Monday' was very close too - I didn't realise it spent quite so long on the chart (absolutely astonishing achievement for a pre digital/streaming hit).
January 11, 20233 yr Just noticed Baby Shark is the video streaming chart #1 for a 27th week in a 14th different run. Most of the Christmas songs have left that top 100, although Mariah holds on with a 2-76 drop, as well as Sidemen (17-62). Similarly in the Sales chart, Ed & Elton survive another week (5-97). Including the Sales week before, Sidemen went 3-1-out, LadBaby 1-2-out, and The "K**ts" 2-3-31.
