New decade- new albums. The album market certainly isn't what it was once but that doesn't stop us counting down the top 100 best selling albums of the decade so far, if only so we can complain about the lack of new albums.

27 of albums on the list are greatest hits compilations so where possible I'll try to focus on albums released in this decade.....

Charts covered are 09.01.2020- 05.01.2023.

The top positions will probably be well known so no spoilers please! :D

100. Singles Collection- Britney Spears (NEW) 186,200 (T/S 401,200)
99. What A Time To Be Alive Tom Walker (38-66-99) 186,400 (T/S 455,900)
98. + Ed Sheeran (99-98-98) 186,400 (T/S 2,691,300)
97. Born To Die- Lana Del Rey (NEW) 186,800 (T/S 1,377,700)
96. The Blueprint- Us Vs Them D-Block Europe (100-96) 186,800

In our first batch of albums we get climbers, fallers and new entries! Britney’s resurgence is reflected in people interested in her back catalogue, but Lana is also back in the top 100 along with the improving D-Block Europe. First of Sheeran’s 5 albums refuses to leave the big sellers as it clings on for another year and will go 9 x platinum this year.

95. Favourite Worst Nightmare- Arctic Monkeys (NEW) 188,000 (T/S 1,230,200)
94. Meet The Woo 2 Pop Smoke (68-82-94) 189,200
93. Chromatica Lady Gaga (22-55-93) 190,700
92. Greatest Hits- The Platinum Collection Queen (54-84-92) 192,600 (T/S 2,439,100)
91. The Fame- Lady Gaga (NEW) 194,300 (T/S 3,240,800)

First of three entries for Arctic Monkeys who are proving very resilient in terms of streaming numbers. The surprise may be in the form of Lady Gaga’s “Fame” which is already a bigger seller in the decade than the far more recent “Chromatica”.

I guess it's the recent TikTok boost for Summertime Sadness that's lifted Lana's album into this top 100. That consistency for Ed Sheeran's '+'

90. Beerbongs & Bentleys Post Malone (61-79-90) 194,400 (T/S 627,600)
89. Greatest Hits….So Far Pink (89-89) 195,600 (T/S 1,315,830)
88. Platinum Hits Jason Derulo (82-92-88) 196,500 (T/S 368,900)
87. Life By Misadventure Rag'N'Bone Man (87-87) 196,800
86. I Cry When I Laugh Jess Glynne (88-89-86) 198,500 (T/S 1,430,300)

Greatest hits sets by Pink and Jason Derulo steady the ship in this segment, but Post Malone is now double platinum. Rag N Bone Man’s second album proves to be much less successful than his million selling debut and is yet to breach the 200k mark.

85. The Bonny Gerry Cinnamon (45-65-85) 198,600
84. Greatest Hits Guns N Roses (84-93-84) 201,200 (T/S 2,360,100)
83. Scorpion Drake (64-77-83) 202,900 (T/S 644,800)
82. Timeless- The All Time Greatest Hits Bee Gees (86-82) 203,200 (T/S 327,400)
81. Red (Taylor’s Version)- Taylor Swift (NEW) 208,000

No-one has more albums on this list than Swift, this is the first of her 6 albums here- she seems to be able to move albums like few other acts around. Otherwise nothing remarkable with more greatest hits by Guns N Roses and Bee Gees doing well in 2022, and Drake going 2 x platinum.

Great thread! Amazing to see Chromatica nearly at 200k might catch up with Artpop in the next year or so at this rate. The Fame still doing really too. I suspect born this way will get a decent boost the next few months with Bloody Mary taking off.
'The Fame' is her only album that's in the streaming chart top 100 - 'Bloody Mary' blowing up doesn't do much for the album due to the top 2 songs being weighted down. I think 'The Fame' has just had more songs that have seen a modest increase in streams last year which has more effect than BTW having just the one song have a huge increase in streams.
Good to see Gerry Cinnamon hanging on, although in total sales The Bonny is still a long way short of Erratic Cinematic which recently went platinum.

Love that great albums from Ed & Lana have snuck in there!

And of course The Fame (Monster) had six top ten hit singles on it, BTW only had three.

That too! But 'The Fame' has definitely had an uptick in 2022 specifically (it only charted in the top 100 for 10/11 weeks in 2020 & 2021, but was much more of a staple in 2022, specifically from late July onwards since which it only dropped back out for a couple of weeks over Christmas).
