June 14, 20232 yr That feels a bit low for Beyoncé but at least better than last time! She's been on a roll over the past decade with self-titled, Lemonade and RENAISSANCE  Adele's best album for me is 21 hands down but 'Hometown Glory' from her debut is probably the song I go back to most. 'Rolling In The Deep' a close second <3
June 14, 20232 yr I didn't enter last time, but Beyoncé being down in 16th was one of the most jarring aspects of the results. Glad that's been partly rectified this time. My faves from her are Crazy In Love, BREAK MY SOUL and Drunk In Love, plus her imprint on popular culture in general has been colossal.
June 14, 20232 yr Beyonce was only 16 last time !! That's insane she was that low! She's not my favourite female singer by any stretch (can't get into her last couple of albums at all) but she still feels surprisingly low at #9!
June 14, 20232 yr I’ve said this a few times on the site over the years but I’ve never really gotten Beyoncé’s hype in terms of the music she puts out. As a performer I absolutely see the appeal and can definitely say she’s one of the very best in that field but for me her actual material itself largely does absolutely nothing for me and given she’s now on solo album 7 and 20 years into her solo career maybe she just isn’t necessarily my bag. Her self titled era is my favourite from her as a whole album but even that isn’t necessarily a 10/10 album. I think all her albums are pretty patchy to say the least but I’ll give her credit for completely switching things up with each release, she’s definitely not a one trick pony so I’ll give her that one but yeah she’d never come to mind for me if I was to list my favourite artists. June 14, 20232 yr Yeah, I pretty much agree with that. I much prefer her more pop stuff than the stuff she's been putting out recently. Same with Rihanna.
June 14, 20232 yr Beyonce is very hit and miss for me but probably more miss, i do love if i were a boy, its my fave from her, she has had a great era with Renaissance so the climb isnt a huge surprise.
June 14, 20232 yr 'If I Were A Boy' is surely her magnum opus, vocally she sounds incomparable on that.
June 14, 20232 yr Not having these takes - Beyonce used to be very hit-and-miss, but that was in the late 2000s/early 2010s, ever since self-titled, she has been on an absolute roll. One of the most versatile and constantly evolving and experimenting female artists right now, would've ranked highly for me x
June 14, 20232 yr I've always found Beyoncé to be one of the most extreme cases of a hit or miss artist, she has her fair share of both really good and really bad singles from all across her career (and while I think 'RENAISSANCE' doesn't have anything really bad on it, that run for her is still kind of preserved for me by its most popular song being one of the handful of songs on the otherwise very strong album that I don't care for). 'If I Were A Boy' is one of her worst songs though. x I think #16 was a fair enough position for her, but I don't mind seeing her being a bit higher this time especially as she has put out some of her best work since the last time this was run. Yeah, I pretty much agree with that. I much prefer her more pop stuff than the stuff she's been putting out recently. Same with Rihanna. Rihanna has put out music recently?

One of the most versatile and constantly evolving and experimenting female artists right now, would've ranked highly for me x Agreed with this, absolutely the most talented and exciting artist out there right now imo! And yeah she is appealing as a performer, but you really have to see her live to just see HOW amazing she is. It was a once in a lifetime experience, complete euphoria and she is a born entertainer.
June 14, 20232 yr 'If I Were A Boy' is one of her worst songs though. x Blatant lies x Rihanna has put out music recently? Well, recently compared to anything before ANTI.
June 14, 20232 yr Adele's best album for me is 21 hands down but 'Hometown Glory' from her debut is probably the song I go back to most. 'Rolling In The Deep' a close second <3 I absolutely love 'Hometown Glory' with that haunting piano but not a big Adele fan. It's like that song is from a different artist - it's more early Fiona Applesque/Tori I would say.
June 14, 20232 yr Beyoncé is such a weird one for me. She is hit and miss absolutely, but when she hits... OH DOES SHE HIT! Since the last countdown, I've managed to actually listen to all her albums in full in preparation of 'RENAISSANCE' release and I really came around to appreciating her as an artist. Ngl, when she misses she misses, but thankfully, she has far more highs than those. I do think I'm in the minority though that thinks 'Lemonade' is actually bottom half of her discography (it's not bad or awful, it's just a bit "eh" to me) Self-titled and RENAISSANCE are her top 2 for me, followed by Sasha Fierce (very unpopular opinion I know) although it's home to some of her worst - Ego & Diva :puke: - I can't deny the highs and they hold such a special nostalgic memory of my music listening habits. I will always be a defender for that album.
June 14, 20232 yr Not these takes when Beyoncé has been at her artistic high for almost 10 years now. No other female artist I can think of has released anything even close to three album punch of Self Titled - Lemonade - Renaissance in a long long time. She has literally been unstoppable creatively over the last decade. Edited June 14, 20232 yr by Davidson
June 14, 20232 yr This isn't just a poll of the last decade though? (and even if it was, I still think she's had a few pretty major misses in the last decade, 'Hold Up' in particular is also down there with her worst singles for me) I think her strength as a performer / cultural icon is much more undeniable than her actual music on its own.
June 15, 20232 yr Love Adele but agreed with 30 just not being it as an album. A dull slogfest that was. Very disappointed oops. Katy and Dua have released loads of big bops over the years and as for Beyoncé I wasn't a fan at the start but become a fan from Sasha Fierce and then she's been kinda hit n miss again since. 'BREAK MY SOUL' is the best single from her in the past decade for me.
June 15, 20232 yr Beyoncé is incredibly overrated as an artist for me. Her music is so hit and miss. Good performer though, and so I think this placing is more than fair.
