Interesting that the 2 Roberta Flack songs that everyone knows includes neither of her actual top 3 hits.

'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face' is a lovely song (I think the first time I heard it may have been Matt Cardle singing it on X Factor lol but he did a pretty good cover x). Really disliked Birdy's first era with her sacrilege covers of some great indie tracks - I will never forgive for her version of 'Skinny Love' being more popular than the original - but I've generally liked what I've heard from her actual original material since then, 'Wings' in particular is great and also really liked 'Keeping Your Head Up'.

Not surprised that nobody else nominated Roberta Flack so I'm glad I remembered her. I wouldn't have nominated her either a few years back but some of her older material is really good and it feels like she's a little unfairly overlooked when people talk about trailblazing black female artists. If you're interested in listening then something like this is my usual go to listen:

I love Roberta's voice. It's such a shame the lists we were given were so "limited". Lots of female artists I've been seeing in the ranking so far that I would've included on my list if we were able to do 50-100 artists. Honestly, I could come up with a list of 200+ solo female artists within the criteria given for this list that I like.

Just catching up on the last few results! So my first person to drop out being Birdy.

A little shocked she didn’t get a few more votes but I’ve always loved her vocal and do find her very underrated so she was worthy of my 8 points.

I wonder if there wasn't a Dora Bryan 1963 picture on the Internet because I don't think she looked like a grandma in 1963. :P Never heard anything about her before of course.

EDIT: Just discovered she was 40 in 1963. So, she could look like that at the time. :o People aged faster in the past.

Don't really know what to say about the last batch - haven't even heard of 2 of them!

Jordin Sparks 'No Air' - I absolutely hated at the time, of course Chris Brown feature didn't help but horrible dirge.

Amber is a tune though. One of those big on the continent hits that seemed destined to smash here but it never happened
Either @Chartjack2 has VERY unique taste or this is an (actually pretty funny) attempt to nominate 30 females nobody else would ever go for. I'm assuming the latter as some of these are too random, surely! Dora Bryan?? *.*
It was funny for the first few but not really sure what the point was of just forcing a troll nomination into all of the first 30 posts :kink:

Maybe he will nominate Sue Wilkinson, her single "You Gotta Be A Hustler If You Wanna Get On" was # 25 in UK, but spent 10 weeks at # 1 in my chart.

She recorded four other singles (Posers, Time'N'Tide, Women Only, Toy Boys), all were # 1s in my chart.

Full album here :

From his list Twiggy could be my # 2 (She is very underrated singer with small, but great back catalogue), Aneka in top 30.

Twiggy recorded such pop beauties as "Rings", "Fallen Angel", "A Woman In Love", "Here I Go Again", "Vanilla Olay", "Please Get My Name Right", "A Room In Bloomsbury", "Winter Wonderland" and some nice non-singles (especially "What A Wonderful World").

I think I will be a little more invested in this by the top 100 lol, so many who and huh artists at the moment. It's nice to see the wide variety of female artists Buzzjack enough though!
