June 2, 20232 yr My dad was a huge fan of Kim Wilde, so spent a lot of time growing up around her music! Shania the country crossover queen
June 2, 20232 yr Tori! I was expecting her to leave soon but I'm actually really surprised and chuffed that she climbed this time around. Excellent taste from Bjork (who I suspected may have given her his 30) and Smint (who it is a great surprise to see did award her his 30!) She's definitely past her best these days but her 90s output is beyond comparison for me and was enough to award her my maximum score. Cornflake Girl definitely is up there as one of her very best but my other all time faves are Silent All These Years, Winter, Playboy Mommy, Cloud On My Tongue, Spark, Cooling, Northern Lad, Raspberry Swirl and Honey. I really love much more besides these but they would be a great starting point. @Jade - do you use Spotify or Apple Music? Very happy to share a playlist if you want to hear more from her (with absolutely no obligation for you to listen any time soon  )
June 2, 20232 yr @Jade - do you use Spotify or Apple Music? Very happy to share a playlist if you want to hear more from her (with absolutely no obligation for you to listen any time soon  ) Yes, I am a Spotify addict
June 2, 20232 yr J Lo was the second of my shortlist of 33 that just failed to make the grade, along with Nelly Furtado and one still to come. Legend though, so many good singles. And quite a few bad ones too, which hindered her a little.
June 2, 20232 yr Happy to see Annie Lennox top 40. I almost voted for Bjork - I really enjoyed her most recent album.
June 2, 20232 yr Wow very surprised at J Lo that is quite a drop. I did however forget her and would have given her a place if I remembered so perhaps others were the same!?
June 2, 20232 yr Yay, a decent climb for Tori! :D Even though there's no question that Tori did not maintain the unbelievable quality of her early career - I would put Earthquakes, Pink (on balance my favourite), Pele (although controversially I think the second half meanders a bit), Choirgirl and Scarlet in the top tier category, all of her albums have at least a few good tracks. I do think Night of Hunters and Native Invaders are almost as strong albums- 'Fearlessness', 'Shattering Sea', 'Reindeer King', 'Climb', 'Mary's eyes' are all late highlights. I put her top as she's such a nice friendly person and always thought unfairly treated by the sexist music press esp in the UK who dismissed her with lazy Kate Bush comparisons, when apart from a trapped-in-a-box album image they are NOTHING alike. Live she is a legend and always gives her best (even if her voice isn't on peak form), takes time to meet her fans and varies the setlist within a tour (which many artists never do) so no two nights are the same. Even though she played them hundreds of times I still got a chill up my spine when I heard 'Silent All These Years' or 'Precious Things' a couple of months back at the Royal Albert Hall!
June 3, 20232 yr Not surprised with J.Lo drop she hasnt has a hit in some time and her releases were of its time!
June 3, 20232 yr Agree with you Smint that it was so annoying how Tori got labelled as copying Kate Bush just because she used a piano, wrote her own songs and was a woman :manson: I too love how she switches up her live sets and does many one off cover versions as well. I was so happy when I saw her and she unexpectedly played Cloud on my Tongue, casually dropping in one of my favourite album tracks from over a decade ago was just such an unexpected joy.

June 3, 20232 yr Happy to be Leonas highest ranker   Would absolutely love new music from her! I’m glad One More Sleep is a bit of a UK Christmas staple so she always returns to the chart each December but with better management I can only imagine where her career could have gone post Spirit
