Time for a new thread! :w00t:

What are your most memorable live events that you went to during this era?

For me personally, I didn’t go to as many, but I did see Radiohead perform in Manchester in 2008, supported by MGMT and Bat For Lashes. They did many of their most well known hits and fan-loved tracks, and they really put a lot into the performance compared to what I was expecting. :music:

I’d love to hear your experiences from this era. :cheer:

I got to see:

- Busted (2004)

- McFly (2005)

- Girls Aloud (2006 - I won 4 tickets! *.*)

- Lily Allen (2009)

- Britney Spears (2009 - Ciara as support *.*)

- Basshunter (2009 - Pretty sure he performed 'Now You're Gone' about 3 times )

Busted was my favourite out of these, just coz the whole live experience blew my mind for the first time. Lily was the worst concert experience I have ever had. Not only did Lily look bored and uninterested on stage, but the crowd were horrendous and my friend had chewing gum thrown in her hair.

I think that's all for now.. icr. But yeah! Britney's was the best show, for sure and getting to see her for the first time ever...

Oh lord, so so many!

Starting with Atomic Kitten on their Right Here Right Now tour in 2000 (I think?)

I’ll see if I can compile a list later!

I did remember seriously considering going to one of Pink's I'm Not Dead ones though but alas never happened. Would've been a fun experience :(

Kelly Clarkson during the Breakaway era was phenomenal for me in early 2006.

But too many to count, The Corrs for the first time in 2004, the Radio 1 roadshow I won tickets to in 2006 with Beyoncé, Nelly Furtado, All Saints, McFly and Girls Aloud. I also saw GA another couple of times, they were always great.

Katy Perry in 2009 was brilliant, Calvin Harris in 2009 with Example as support.

Sooo many good gigs.

The ones I went to:

2000 Radiohead

2001 V2001 - Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Placebo, David Gray, Neil Finn (he did quite a few Crowded House songs), etc.

2001 Party In The Park - Atomic Kitten, Blue, A1, etc. (those were the days indeed)

2003 Glastonbury - R.E.M., Radiohead, Suede, Flaming Lips, Beth Orton, Love, The Thrills, loads more

2007 Kaiser Chiefs (support: We Are Scientists)

2008 R.E.M. (support: Guillemots, Editors)

2009 Snow Patrol (support: White Lies)

2009 U2 (support: Glasvegas)

The standout would have to be Glastonbury - my two favourite bands for a while, the only festival where I stayed overnight and the whole experience with the Glade and smaller tents hosting unknown bands. The later ones had some brilliant supporting acts - all were at seated venues except Kaiser Chiefs at CIA which I have a fond memory of, just a shame I didn't know any We Are Scientists songs very well at the time as they have some great ones!

My first arena gig of the 2000’s was Girls Aloud’s Chemistry Tour and I sacked off my Year 11 leavers party to go. Didn’t regret it then, don’t regret it now!

From what I can remember, I also went to see (up until roughly 2010 ish):

McFly’s Motion in the Ocean and Above The Noise

Sugababes’ Taller in More Ways and Change

Girls Aloud’s TSOGA, Tangled Up and Out of Control

Celine Dion’s Taking Chances

Kate Nash’s Made of Bricks

The Ting Tings’s We Started Nothing

JLS’s Outta This World

Lady Gaga’s The Monster Ball

Spice Girls - The Return Of…

That’s all I can remember right now haha!

I only went to two concerts in the 2000s!

My first ever concert was the X Factor tour in 2008 (made up of the contestants from 2007, I was obsessed with Same Difference as a kid and wanted to go just for them )

Second was Miley Cyrus on her Wonder World tour in 2009 (this supported the Time Of Our Lives era which spawned Party In The U.S.A.) - I grew up with Hannah Montana and it's been incredible to follow her career ever since, with 'Flowers' currently topping the chart 14 years later :o support act was Metro Station as her brother was a member of the band.

Oh I think I went to the X Factor tour with Leon and Same Difference!

:cheeseblock: went to a Birmingham date! I randomly ended up seeing Rhydian live twice, on that tour and as Teen Angel in a production of Grease

Saw loads but not so many current acts of the time. Kylie was fab on 2 tours. Kaisers very good. Laroux good. Noisettes excellent. Texas and Scissor Sisters amazing.

Best concert of the decade Pet Shop Boys at an outdoor historic Spanish courtyard venue in Barcelona on the day of Michael Jacksons funeral. Ooh la di da!

Oh just remembered the only vague memory I had of seeing someone famous in the 00's was at my local Connaught and it was the lead singer of 70's Band Dr Hook which was good if I remember correctly but that was part of someone's birthday invite from school. Still it was a fun evening.

I went to more in the 2010's though. I could list many there.

SOOOO jealous you got to see Kelly on that tour! :drama: I’ve only seen her once (on her AIEW tour in 2010 - so missed to cut off for this lol) I’m waiting for her to tour again so bad! She was flawless and I got to hear Sober

If I could go to ANY tour though it’d be Britney’s ‘Onyx Hotel’ tour. PEEEEAAAKKK Britney!

It was one of those times you really felt an artist was at the peak of their powers.

I saw her a few years later again but it didn't feel as effortlessly magical somehow.

I forgot another highlight, if you can call it a concert - was when I saw the Melodifestivalen 2009 final live - the camp drama was too much for me, the best two hours of live entertainment I've probably ever seen, better than being there for Eurovision in 2013 even. The show was absolutely at its peak and the final was immense in every way.

- Petra Mede hosting <3

- Måns' Hope & Glory and his absolutely incredible reaction when the underwhelming public vote came in for him at 1:51:10 (the drama during the televote points was the funniest thing ever - all the gasps from the audience as he'd been expected to win and led after the jury vote)

- Iconic underdog Caroline Af Ugglas sending shivers down my spine with her emotional vocal - and then nearly winning the whole thing

- Agnes looking and sounding like a superstar, with a brilliant and underrated song, the follow up to Release Me in Sweden

- Big Big World's Emilia back with another great track

- Alcazar blowing the roof off with one of the greatest pop songs of all time, Stay The Night

- Sarah Dawn Finer being amazing, as always

- EMD! Brilliant boyband with a fantastic song

- Sofia's Alla - the wildcard that nobody wanted in the final - I got up and clapped and cheered extra loudly for her as nobody else did

- Pre huge fame Molly Sandén

- MALENA ERNMAN (now just as well known for being Greta's mother) winning with a classic

I rewatch this so often.

I didn't start going to concerts until 2006 (I'd just turned 18 in February 2006) but I certainly made up for lost time and went to 19 in total!

One thing about concerts in the 2000s is that compared to today's prices it was relatively cheap to go to them. Most of the tickets were probably no more than £30, so it didn't feel like breaking the bank to go and see a show, like it does nowadays!

I was at the front of the barrier for Beyoncé. During her performance of 'Halo' she came down off the stage to be close to the crowd and touched our hands as she went by! That was certainly a very memorable moment, having a superstar right in front of me!

Although it was during Katy Perry's first album era, it still feels weird to think that I saw her performing in a relatively small venue. I even got to meet her (a free meet and greet) and she was a delight!

I also won a meet and greet competition at The Saturdays and they were always a pleasure to meet, they spent a lot of time with the fans! Seeing them headline their own show for the first time was just fantastic.

Britney Spears was my ultimate favourite popstar, so seeing her in 2009 felt like a long time coming, very special! It's always exciting to go to a show and see the artist take the stage, but my level of excitement seeing actual Britney was something else!

There's a reason why I kept going back for more with Girls Aloud, they were absolutely incredible live and amongst my favourite shows I've ever been to! As crazy as it might sound I would have attended even more dates if I'd been able to!

Will always be thankful that I got to see the Spice Girls as a 5 piece - my #1 act of all time (if you didn't know already!!). I just wish it could have been more than once. However their tickets were relatively more expensive at that point compared to most other artists, as well as the cost/effort of going to London, so I could only pull off one show.

Seeing Melanie C was certainly an experience. Although I was with friends in London for a few days, none of them were going to Melanie C, so I had to leave them to travel by myself. I wasn't a very independent person so that was incredibly daunting - but afterwards I felt proud that I was able to do that. That show is immortalised on DVD/YouTube and I'm often popping up in the audience shots!

Oh just remembered the only vague memory I had of seeing someone famous in the 00's was at my local Connaught and it was the lead singer of 70's Band Dr Hook which was good if I remember correctly but that was part of someone's birthday invite from school. Still it was a fun evening.

I also saw Dennis lacorriere - saw him twice, always puts on a great show, and he was resident in the UK in the 00's I think. Might still be!

That would make sense!
