y'all are making it seem like if it's anyone but Rina they can kiss their career goodbye

Because it's true x

I feel like someone at the BBC / TaP must surely be aware that hyping the Internet up into thinking it was going to be Rina without shutting down that speculation was going to backfire if it isn't actually her.

Honestly, I'm just incredibly annoyed that they're dragging this f***ing announcement out so long. Just announce it, let us moan about it not being Rina and let us get on board and come around to whatever the entry is!
I really like the clip of "I Wrote a Song". The title gives "That's How You Write a Song" vibes but thankfully it sounds a lot better (even if I did ironically get into that by the time of the contest).

Not really and the UK is at a disadvantage compared to countries like Norway and Sweden. Anyone who has watched ESC for a while knows this song will do badly.

Thought the BBC wanted to win. In the past the UK fans have gaslighted themselves believing the entries were good when they were bland and forgettable and you could predict the outcome.

I'm not actually against Mae Muller per se (she is a perfectly competent if unremarkable live vocalist), but THAT clip/song thats doing that rounds is POO. I hope this song is a SICK JOKE as it should be called “I WROTE A BOTTOM 5 SONG”. I’m cautiously optimistic that TaP wouldn’t choose a song like that though.

Ooft cannot wait for the press reaction it’s going to be JUICY.

I don't get what's a not really?

I think the BBC want to turn around the image of Eurovision in the UK, and in particular want a respectable entry/result when we're hosting the contest. Not sure they want to aim to win this year though and have to deal with back-to-back hosting duties.

Omg please! Holy is great too and I think of all the songs on the album, you can really imagine it on the Eurovision stage.

Mae Muller is fine but that song just sounds flat out bad from the clip, and it’s not just because I want Rina  We can’t go backwards after such a leap forward with Sam, I Wrote A Song gives me 2 points last place German entry vibes.

Wanted to trash your Benz

Tell all your friends how cruel you were to me (to me, to me)

Instead I wrote a song bout how you did me wrong

I could’ve cried at home and spent the night alone

Instead I wrote a song

I feel much better now

Me and my girls are out and we all sing along

Instead I wrote a song

(Da da da da da di, da da da da da di, da da da da da di)

Instead I wrote a song

(da da da da da di, da da da da da di)

Maybe I should reserve judgement until hearing the whole song, but for me that clip wasn't serving anything good. It sounds like an AI's attempt at coming up with a break up anthem.

A country can put 110% effort in and not win because nothing is guaranteed but IMO the BBC need to show they're taking it seriously for a second year. Don't forget that TaP Music managed the careers of, amongst others: Dua Lipa, Mabel, London Grammar, Dermot Kennedy, Ellie Goulding and Caroline Polachek. These same people saw the potential in Sam Ryder and believed in him 100% and had to convince a lot of people in the music industry that Eurovision was a good platform for him.

What do people think a "respectable entry/result" is because I have watched the contest for a long time and all I am hearing from that song clip is bottom 5.

I Wrote a Song isn't a bad song, in a Ella-Henderson-Dance-Feature kinda way, but I'm not sure it's a left-hand-side-of-the-board Eurovision song.

Rina's Holy you can visualise immediately on the Eurovision stage.

There is something behind the logic of hearing a song and just imagining it on stage at Eurovision.

Raincatchers, Frankenstein/Holy, hell even Roles Reversed all give the foundations to apply staging and visuals that work at Eurovision. When you hear these you can absolutely picture them at Eurovision.

Some of these other Mimi tracks, and especially that Mae track, just don't work at all. Way too radio, and in the case of Mae, way too 'TikTok smash played at Popworld' that even Malta would avoid sending.

Yep. I can't visualise the staging at all for I Wrote A Song and it sounds really autotuned to the point I don't know how she would sound on stage. The "Da da da da da di, da da da da da di, da da da da da di" might be catchy but it will not score points.
