I've just read that the UK are on last, so doesn't that kind of keep us fresh in people's minds enough to score a few extra votes?

Being last isn’t IDEAL when there’s 26 songs, though it might work better as it’s a home contest. It would definitely be a benefit if the performance felt like a proper climax, rather than an anticlimax.

This is exactly how I feel actually. I love the song, so much. It's such a shame that noone involved has decided to add something into the mix to elevate the chorus on stage.

I can already imagine people saying last year was just a fluke... When, in reality, it was down to the combination of effort and a great performance, we will have a 50% success rate with the contests we've actually put effort into, and no country gets it all right every time. People just refuse to listen/believe that (pre-2022) ZERO effort went into finding good songs/promoting them/staging them.

France is a perfect example. 2nd in 2021, bombed in 2022 with an absolute stormer of a track that could have had a better performance on the night, and now a leading favourite again.

As Long as we can get a „ok, let’s GO AGAIN BITCH“ narrative out tomorrow night and we keep the positivity high instead of slipping back into „it’s so political“ then we have a good chance of a solid 2024.

From the sounds of it, Käärijä has fixed some sound issues with the backing vocals vs the Semi so there’s a slither of hope that the UK has reacted and made a final final tweak to the backing track

Really disappointed that this is the reaction now. I agree btw. Just disappointed with the BBC for not fixing these issues, it would be fine with some backing vocals added in. She’s fine on the verses but the chorus sounds so flat.

We’ll only be getting points out of appreciation for hosting for Ukraine I feel.

what?? this is not BBC issue that a artist cant sing live

The BBC and Tap management are the ones who picked her and promoted her. So whoever is watching this performance and is in charge of the backing vocals are the ones that need to fix it. I wrote BBC as I don’t know the exact name of her sound engineer.

Its baffling really that they havnt unless we see a change tomorrow night, after last year the UK really have momentum and this years entry was looking promising to do well initially but not so much now.

Really hoping we do see a change with getting some backing vocals to support the chorus. Everything else essential is there, but if the chorus falls flat on the night, then I can’t see this connecting with people as it should.

On a positive note, I do like the staging and colours. Hoping for the best here.

People there last night have suggested they really ramped up the backing track for the Jury final, to the point Mae can barely be heard at points *.*

So they may well have listened!

Imagine if they listened, but they went in the complete opposite direction and just made it worse.

I've seen a video of the jury final performance and overall it's a lot better. I'm hopeful now we haven't totally f***ed it up!

Omg she finally hit the f***ing high note

Omg that snippet sounds like exactly what we’ve been waiting for :w00t:

Also she’s moved to #2 on iTunes and the CD single is shipping this week - snatch that hit Mae

I mean... way to go...

Pull it out of the bag for the performances that mean the most!!!

Yeah exactly. Talk about saving the best to last. If she can replicate that again in the Live final im very confident that we will finish top 10. She should do ok with the juries off the back of that.

remaining cautiously optimistic, I can't sense a disgrace coming based on that and what seems like Mae finding out how to finish the final with a bang

Odds have been slashed for a UK Top 10 finish :cheer: I placed a bet at 35/1 she is now 5/1.

Wherever we end up as long as Mae can put in a good performance and stop the bitter Twitter trolls with their ‘she can’t sing etc.,’ comments then I’ll be happy.
