I wonder if The Weeknds The Highlights will ever sneak #1 on a week with no major releases  I kinda want him to get it once but maybe it would take some sort of push on physical CDs or Vinyls.

Happy that Miley will likely be #1 on albums this week though!

Apparently Sleaford Mods release an album almost every year (never heard anything by them...), but this looks likely to be the highest charting and has already sold more than any of their charted albums managed in a week!

I was thinking the same about the weeknd as he went number 1 here in Ireland last week. Up until a couple a weeks ago it had a number 3 peak here.

Actually it would be positive, then maybe the OCC would change the rules

seeing all new releases blocked by a playlist, cos nobody is listening to The Highlights

this is just streams from This Is The Weeknd playlist

Could that explain? bjork why the greatest Showman always number 1 on compilation chart only get knock off when now album come out then goes back number 1 week after album and compilation charts both mess soundtrack album still stay need own chart

Interested to see if Miley can get to 20k. By the looks of it she'll do ~18k. Hopefully she'll hold up well in week 2. She's uploading her Disney+ Backyard sessions performances to her youtube channel ("River" a couple days ago and "Flowers" today). Hopefully she'll release the performances of the other album tracks in the next week or so to boost streaming a little.
Dawn fm did not do much tell something weeknd new album flop

I think to give the album credit, it was the 5th best selling album that actually dropped in 2022. That's nothing to sneeze at. A year after release and it's still charting too. A lot of underperforming new material is just in reaction to a market that's increasingly driven by catalogue releases.

perhaps if The Highlights ended up somehow staying at #1 for ages the OCC would finally do something about the Greatest Hits compilations clogging the album chart but as it is they probably won't care if it sneaks a week or two in a dead period

Dawn FM is on 150K already so hardly a flop

Things would also be different if tiktokers had randomly picked a Dawn FM track instead of Die For You

isn't Less Than Zero being scheduled for a 2028 release with a Lana Del Rey remix too, according to someone on Buzzjack :P that'll belatedly get Dawn FM another few weeks in the chart...

I wouldn't say it's necessarily done any worse than most of his regular albums? He's not exactly know for being a blockbuster smasher in that department.

Great that Lizzy at a new peak. The intense, cinematic string parts do set it apart from other ballads of this nature and unusual sounding for a top 10 record. Obvs Billie E takes very uncommercial art rock/avante garde stuff top 10 too but good to have other artists with different sounding stuff.

Not quite sure what happened for them to suddenly become top 20 regulars from 2015 onwards after many years of consistently releasing albums to no commercial fanfare!

Think their sound is a bit of an acquired taste to say the least but I've enjoyed the singles from this album, especially 'Force 10 From Navarone' with Florence Shaw from Dry Cleaning, so pleased to see them looking to get another new career peak.

Dawn fm did not do much tell something weeknd new album flop

Evidence? Dawn FM certainly did not flop, if you are comparing it to it's predecessor "After Hours" then you will find that it's opening figures (without physicals) would have been only hundreds apart from "Dawn FM". You will also find that "Dawn FM" sold 6,200 cds in their first week of release. Combining the figures: "After Hours" opened with 25,677 sales and "Dawn FM" would have opened with 26,926 sales. "Dawn Fm" would have sold more than "After Hours". 48 weeks in the top 100 albums chart is usually 16 time more weeks than your average number one album would get. Additionally, Dawn FM was #22 in the EOY list on the albums, while After Hours was #23. There is much more evidence to suggest that "Dawn FM" did not 'flop'.
