A question for Bré… given that FSR Rontvia came close to doing it, and that Summericia and Altyr Muunilinst have in the last year or so… I want to know how many times someone has won BJSC with an autoqualifier? :thinking:

unrelated note for future posterity: when belatedly collating the semi-final stats from this contest I discovered Beaverdonia's semi-final votes were slightly wrong in the spreadsheet (they initially submitted incorrect votes and then corrected them but the votes were not changed in the spreadsheet), should be 7 to Kathaldazia, 3 to Skall, 2 to Oslol and 1 to Aelandor. Only minorly shuffles the ranking of the DNQs x

Congrats Wouter - your song almost made my votes in the semi (so was just outside my commiserations in the final).

 

At least my top 7 all finished higher than 28th out of 42, although many of my remaining votes deserved better, and it's harsh for Scotland 2 to drop out of the medals on a tiebreak after having such a lead at one point. I'm glad my points in the semi helped Spod and Tartford into the final.

Congrats WoW! Wow indeed at 3 wins already for Lookylion, they continue to amaze and impress me! Also amazed by Rontvia, I didn't expect 'My Wing' to contend for the win but it does have hints of 'Free Tibet' to be fair. At least the gap between the top 2 wasn't extremely close? </3

 

The 80s entries were all collectively robbed, maybe there was just too many of them. A lot of the bottom 10 deserved better but it was a strong contest! A decent month for pop too but aww at Renee and Gracie not quite making the top half.

Congrats Lookylion, not a song that stood out to me (HAIM sound bores me these days I'm afraid) but it's well put together and yeah last contest's winner was very much my thing so fair play - heartbroken at Rontvia second again with yet another top-class entry, I had seen Otyken around the place but hadn't considered there was a dance remix of their work out there that would really up the ante, huge huge highlight in this contest, at least it got second!

 

third entry of the year and third result in the 30s, but at least I'm qualifying ha! (and very narrowly too jeez I need to shore up my strategy). Quite cool at least reading through this being so far below everyone else but relatively high on the jury so I got to jump up quite far, just with a low starting point. Thank you to those who voted me though, it's nice to get points with a more traditional eurometal track.

I don't remember the winning song at all. But huge congrats to Lookylion, that's one win per year of competing so far right?

 

Such a shame Blumchen was leading with a sizeable margin at one point and eventually was squeezed even out of a medal position. Also fair play to Rontvia, clearly I underestimated the trance revival impact.

 

I'm glad Cumulonimbia sneaked in at 10. A #31 forgotten hit from 1992 (something about that year eh) is what you called an unearthed gem.

 

I know what I'm sending next contest and I'm ~70% confident this one will take us back into the final.

I was hoping to stay top 5 after the hype in the predictions thread and on sync-tube.de, but I guess a couple of surprising snubs dragged us down in the end. Still, super pleased to bounce back into the top 10 after tanking last contest 🎉🙏

Oh wow we won the semi :o That hardly ever happens, in fact I can't remember it happening for about a decade or so.

 

Absolutely delighted with 7th for us. Genuinely thought Fever Ray would be about 25th so it's lovely when something completely outdoes your expectations by such a huge margin
