She’d only need to add another 2k to stay top 75 so I think that’ll be easy, I’d predict it to debut in the 50s but I might be being optimistic!

We can top 40. They just need to release one instrumental mix on itunes and keep the best remixes for another week lol

I physically can’t download anymore copies - I’ve bought them from iTunes, Amazon, 7Digital and Qobuz and there are no other download sites, throw ANYTHING at us BMG to be able to buy and stream.

Midweek #26 is excellent! :cheer:

How Padam Padam is doing in the Monday midweeks compared to other BMG singles (pre-album releases):

Dancing Midweek: #22 [5,878 sales] (Monday 22nd January 2018) // Entry Position: #47 [8,201 sales] (Friday 26th January 2018)

Stop Me from Falling Midweek: #65 [1,772 sales] (Monday 12th March 2018) // Didn't make the Top 100 in that week

Say Something Midweek #52 [3,218 sales] (Monday 27th July 2020) // Entry Position: #82 [6,091 sales] (Friday 31st July 2020)

Magic Midweek #44 [3,176 sales] (Monday 28th September 2020) // Entry Position: #75 [5,524 sales] (Friday 2nd October 2020)

A Second to Midnight Midweek #71 [2,099 sales] (Monday 11th October 2021) // Didn't make the Top 100 in that week (in fact, it never charted in any week)

Padam Padam Midweek: #26 [4,897 sales] (Monday 22nd May 2023)

'A Second to Midnight' was a Wednesday release! :drama:

'Dancing' and 'Stop Me from Falling' were Friday releases - I had forgotten that. I wonder why Thursday became a thing for BMG after those two? Did 'Stop Me from Falling' get announced as a second single straight away, or did it initially feel like an instant grat? Because that was quite an underwhelming start for that song!

So 'Say Something' fell 30 places from midweek to the Friday chart, 'Magic' was 31 places. So if the same happened for 'Padam Padam' we'd be looking at #56/#57. 'Dancing' fell 25 places, so 'Padam Padam' doing that would be #51. It really does seem like a "50s" position could be on the cards. Unless some kind of miracle happens.

The scenario of Kylie making the Top 40 again would be amazing, but honestly, I think her managing to go Top 100 (and not just scrape it, but be in the 50s area) is a great achievement when the odds are always stacked against her.

From SayHey, more specific information:

MIDWEEKS

26 (NEW) Padam Padam

4,897 sales (2,054 yesterday)

Digital: 1357

Streams: 3532

Comparing this to Say Something from July 2020:

52 (NEW) Say Something

3,218 sales (1,756 yesterday)

Digital: 1174

Streams: 2044

So that's a good indication that her streaming has improved quite a lot and is actually the main driving force behind how it's doing so far. Hopefully more fans will feel motivated to download the song. It's interesting that its download sales aren't all that far ahead of what Say Something achieved, even though the latter fell out of the Top 10 on iTunes quickly, while Padam Padam is still #2.

Keep watching the video. It is getting a lot of streams in UK. As much as the American Idol video is good it won't get Padam Padam any sales by watching it lol.

A download released on Thursday morning could be a strategy that gets sales into Friday new chart week also and gets the top 40 placing

I guess many songs are on ACR which is helping Kylie

I’m not at all surprised PP gained on sales only a bit, despite being marginally higher on iTunes.

In July 2020 the overall paid-for sales were around 480-500k for the week. Last week they were just 303k for the whole paid-for sales singles market. So she represents a pretty much twice as big of a share in the singles sales market compared to Say Something.

The fact that it’s looking likely it will be a Top 50/55 hit is incredible - I was expecting a low Top 100.

I think it frustrates me more though when she is in reach of a Top 40 and misses out - they could have easily got it across the line this week, I know it means nothing to anyone apart from the fans but it would be incredible to see Kylie achieve a Top 40 lead single in release week.

The fact that PP is doing relatively better on streaming gives it a better chance of falling less from the Monday midweek.

Fingers crossed.

Sure, the charts aren’t as influential as they were used to be, but I’d say a top-40 debut is a financially good prospect, as it still creates quite a bit of extra buzz and can open more doors later, including heavier playlisting.

I really hope there’s some kind of fan campaign, it wouldn’t take a lot to push her into the top 40 but without some kind of push it’s just unlikely
Its these kind of sales that fans of artists get behind to make a difference, but there is some hope that madam padam could grow in the weeks ahead if it gets some support even on the back of promo. Padam padam definitely has the most potential of her releases in the last few years to actually do ok as i think people who would not usually buy a kylie song could support this and its also a song that the younger demographic may just get addicted to (hopefully)

Maybe it's just me, but I don't exactly care where it charts in the first week as long as there's a long term campaign for it - I know a lot of fans want them to throw everything out there in the first week to get it as high as possible, but that just feels underwhelming and it really wouldn't make it a hit, even if it would chart at #22 because it would just exit the charts the next week. People are mentioning how Sam Ryder got another top 40 by throwing everything out there for Mountain, but now his campaign essentially feels over. FLO also recently got their first top 40 "hit" with Fly Girl, but since it went nowhere fast after that, so again, it wasn't really a hit.

Going in at #22 and exiting wouldn't really make more radio stations (ie Radio One) pick it up either; charting outside the top 40 wouldn't discourage radio stations that already play her (ie Radio 2) either.

I just hope Padam Padam can build her presence on streaming and help her with future releases.

^^ I don’t want them to throw everything at it but would love to see it enter at #39 rather than #43 or something - once it’s made the Top 40 they can continue as planned with planned strategy for releasing physicals and remixes.
Yeah, but by the same token I don't think it'll hurt to try and squeeze the very few thousand sales needed this week if it's in with a chance of making it.

This - it won’t impact their overall plan, I’ll be gutted it it ends up at #45 or something, when her singles enter in the 60s or 70s I’m just pleased they’ve made the charts but it’s worse when it’s close to being Top 40.

I'm optimistic of it just scraping top 40. I haven't really paid attention to her lack of success on streaming though so there's probably next to no chance of it.
