May 31, 20232 yr Also what happened to her studio albums! Foreign Affair was #10 yesterday. Boooo. I’m guessing they hadn’t downweighted (whatever they call it) the streams of the top tracks or something. Who knows. Says a lot that even the OCC seem to be making it up as they go along lol

May 31, 20232 yr I'm not at all an advocator for ACR, but I feel like this discussion has me at odds with what people see the purpose of it to be. Like, is ACR introduced in order to allow fresh tracks to shine higher on the chart, or is that simply a by-product of its purpose to punish older songs? What I mean to say is that a couple of songs running loose and defying the system doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. You've got songs debuting in the top 40/75/100 etc because of the dozens of songs that are on ACR. Those tracks making an accidental loop hole aren't stopping that purpose. Maybe a song peaks at #42 instead of #39, but without ACR it would've peaked at #70 (anyone who's an expert on this stuff feel free to give me a more accurate picture of this!). That's still ACR doing what it's supposed to do, I think. In any case, we're all just seeing the peak of this Harry hysteria. It happened to my country's charts a few months ago, and it sure got out of hand, but the time subsided and it's not really a going concern anymore. This too shall pass.
June 1, 20232 yr Interesting that Tina's 'The Collected Recordings' has been given the boot, in favour of 'Simply the Best' up to #10! 'The Platinum Collection' is down from midweek #8 to #19. Simply the Best is definitely the most iconic Tina compilation by far, although I personally would have preferred The Platinum Collection to go Top 10 for the first time (its peak is #14). Still a bit of a shame that her streams are seemingly spread across two compilations. If there's no Tina albums in the Top 10 on Friday that'll be a shame. Also what happened to her studio albums! Foreign Affair was #10 yesterday. Boooo. I’m guessing that ‘Simply The Best’ has just edged past ‘The Platinum Collection’ on sales seeing as it is higher on the download chart. However, as ‘The Platinum Collection’ is a much more extensive collection, there are still plenty of streams/tracks to be picked up by it. It’ll be interesting to see what happens in the final chart, and also the albums downloads and streaming charts.
