BuzzJack's favourite top 100 hit for 2023 week 22 and auto-qualifying for the June monthly round is Dua Lipa - Dance The Night.

BuzzJack's favourite top 100 hit for 2023 week 23 and auto-qualifying for the June monthly round is Dave and Central Cee - Sprinter.

British popstar (with Albanian citizenship) and BuzzJack fave Dua Lipa logged her first new hit of the year in week 22 with the lead single from the soundtrack to the new Barbie film, continuing the disco pop sound from her enormously popular 'Future Nostalgia' album and landing another top 20 hit, and duly won the poll with ease, almost matching Kylie's performance from the previous week with 70% of participants giving her a vote (although significantly fewer total voters this time). Distant second place, 8 votes behind but still also picking up votes from half of participants, was the debut hit for both DJ Hannah Laing and vocalist RoRo. It was a closer race in week 23 with just one vote between the top 2, and a bit of a surprising winner albeit with a much lower 17 votes (the second lowest for a winner to date), British rap stars Dave and Central Cee (not quite as much BuzzJack faves as Dua, especially the latter x) came out on top with the latest UK #1 'Sprinter' which was one of three songs to chart from their surprise new collaborative EP 'Split Decision' and raced to the biggest first week sales of the year to date. They narrowly deny another soundtrack cut, The Weeknd's second single from his much-maligned HBO series The Idol which thus just fails to match the poll winning success of the first single despite swapping out Future for the more BuzzJack bait collaborator Madonna (and Playboi Carti). Madonna gets another shot at winning this week.

4 out of 7 songs from week 22 make it to double figures, with Taylor Swift's belatedly released 'Midnights' bonus track not managing to come too close to giving her a third win as it lands in third place while J Hus' comeback after 3 years of mostly silence put in a surprisingly strong 4th place showing. The other 3 were very much also-rans, joint last place on 2 votes going to a Lil Durk album track and the year's second new entry to desecrate sample Robert Miles' 'Children' this time with a drum n bass flavour, both beaten by one vote by a rare dancehall hit from Byron Messia. The top 6 from week 23 got to double figures and UK rap (quite literally in one case) continues to punch above its weight, with the other two Dave/Central Cee collabs coming in 3rd and joint 4th. It was a mostly rap dominated list of new entries, but there were still a few contenders from other genres with D.O.D and Foo Fighters repping dance and rock respectively also landing in tied 4th place. The bottom 6 however all fell short of the 5 vote mark, and UK rap still found its way to the bottom of this list with the first chart hit from the recently freed from prison Slim holding up the rear and thanking just the one voter for avoiding being the second addition to the 0 votes club (will we get to the halfway mark of the year without Clavish's 'No Difference' having any company?) Metro Boomin did clear the 5 vote mark with 2 out of 3 of his Spiderman soundtrack songs but the third, with Swae Lee, NAV and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, was much less popular with only 2 votes. Also from Spiderman, Dominic Fike doesn't do much better with 3 votes, tying with another post-prison release from Gunna and a chaotic K-Pop cut from Stray Kids, while Burna Boy's latest release with a prominent 90s R&B sample comes out on top of the also-rans with 4 votes.

Finally back on schedule again and back to a poll covering just the one chart week B-) And it's a pretty barren week with only 6 newies (totalling 18 minutes and 57 seconds). Think this one looks like a 1 horse race.

Vote for as many or as few songs as you want and would be ideal if you can make sure you've heard all the songs before voting if possible!

You have until Sunday evening to vote :jump:

And here are the results from the May monthly round... (with thanks to the 28 people that voted in that, the second most to date)

Unfortunately it is the end of the road for these:

10 117 The National - The Alcott (feat. Taylor Swift)

9 118 Niall Horan - Meltdown

8 122 Ed Sheeran - Curtains

7 130 Bring Me The Horizon - LosT

6 153 Harry Styles - Satellite

5 159 Lana Del Rey - Say Yes To Heaven

Still in with a chance of making the final for the year is...

4 188 Alessandra - Queen Of Kings

Which means our next 3 guaranteed spots in the yearly round go to Käärijä, Kylie Minogue and Loreen :cheer: No surprise really that we have a pretty distinct top 4 of Kylie and the 3 Eurovision songs, what with those being easily the 2 most celebrated and discussed chart ongoings of the month (and arguably the year), Alessandra being a bit unlucky to miss out on a top 3 spot but one would have to imagine she'll have a great chance of still making the final 40 of the year. She is a full 29 points clear of the rest of the pack, but no songs embarass themselves here as all 10 comfortably pass the 100 point mark (The National have the highest score so far for last place in a monthly round). The top 3 all crack 200 points, and with Kylie landing the bronze medal for the month it was yet again a top 2 battle between Eurovision winner Loreen and runner up Käärijä... and it's another W for Loreen, though once again very close with just 9 points separating them (Käärijä being 13 points clear of Kylie). 'Cha Cha Cha' will have one more chance to fight for justice when we eventually get to the final xx It is the third song with male vocals to have a guaranteed spot in the final, and the second foreign language song.

3 200 Kylie Minogue - Padam Padam

2 213 Käärijä - Cha Cha Cha

1 224 Loreen - Tattoo

That'd be me who gave Slim his sole vote! The longer the run goes on, the funnier it gets.

J Hus - Who Told You (feat. Drake) (#2) - ISSA vibe

Nathan Dawe, Joel Corry and Ella Henderson - 0800 CEAVEN (#23) - Ya I like this, trend-chasing as always from Dawe but chasing a GOOD trend

Noah Kahan - Dial Drunk (#45) - boring folk-style song

BTS - Take Two (#59) - wow what a massive flop by their standards, can see why though

Sam Smith and Madonna - VULGAR (#69) - poundland unholy

Fredo - Everybody Knows (#76) - I was expecting to meh this but this is one of his most instant songs

Voted J Hus, Nathan et all & Fredo.

1. Fredo - Everybody Knows

2. J Hus - Who Told You (feat. Drake)

3. Noah Kahan - Dial Drunk

4. BTS - Take Two

5. Sam Smith and Madonna - VULGAR

6. Nathan Dawe, Joel Corry and Ella Henderson - 0800 HEAVEN

Just voting for Fredo this week. It's far from his most serious effort but it's fun.

Who Told You is J Hus's worst track for me with an awfully mixed Drake verse but I'd still rather listen to it that the other entries this week.

'Dial Drunk' is more interesting than anything Cian Ducrot/Dermot Kennedy has released but still nothing special and 'Take Two' is no 'Dyanmite' bit still far from BTS's worst.

'Vulgar' is bad but I was expecting something even worse from what I had read and I don't get the hype for '0800 HEAVEN'. It's the same song those three always release but with an even more boring instrumental.

0800 Heaven, BTS, Sam/Madonna and Noah get my vote - Dial Drunk being the only one I hadn’t heard before the poll. Pleasant surprise. The best was alright on the J Hus/Fredo tracks but both got boring after the first minute for me.

J Hus - Who Told You (feat. Drake) (#2)

Sam Smith and Madonna - VULGAR (#69)

Fredo - Everybody Knows (#76)

Nathan Dawe, Joel Corry and Ella Henderson - 0800 HEAVEN (#23)

BTS - Take Two (#59)

Noah Kahan - Dial Drunk (#45)

Voted for '0800 HEAVEN' - not a vintage week

01. Nathan Dawe, Joel Corry and Ella Henderson - 0800 HEAVEN (#23)

02. Fredo - Everybody Knows (#76)

03. J Hus - Who Told You (feat. Drake) (#2)

04. Sam Smith and Madonna - VULGAR (#69)
