Thanks to the 46 people who participated in last week's poll :jump:

Official results from week 24:

[ 25 ] Nathan Dawe, Joel Corry and Ella Henderson - 0800 HEAVEN (#23)

[ 16 ] Sam Smith and Madonna - VULGAR (#69)

[ 11 ] Noah Kahan - Dial Drunk (#45)

[ 10 ] J Hus - Who Told You (feat. Drake) (#2)

[ 7 ] Fredo - Everybody Knows (#76)

[ 3 ] BTS - Take Two (#59)

BuzzJack's favourite top 100 hit for 2023 week 24 and auto-qualifying for the June monthly round is Nathan Dawe, Joel Corry and Ella Henderson - 0800 HEAVEN.

On a rather quiet week, it's a pretty easy win for British DJs Nathan Dawe and Joel Corry (assisted by fellow British singer and rent-a-dance-vocalist Ella Henderson) who saw Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding get a big hit with a trance banger with a vaguely religious title and thought 'hey we can do that too'. It follows in the footsteps of 'Miracle' with a poll win here but hasn't quite reached the same chart heights just yet with a debut a bit short of the top 20, though it's well on its way to being at least a top 10 hit in the coming weeks. It won the support of just over half of voters and was 9 votes clear of second place - which is a collaboration with Madonna for a second week in a row, the legend this time assisting Sam Smith on a song that we all hope never gets higher than #69 as that's just too perfect.

The last few votes helped two of the other four contenders also cross the double figure mark, with folk pop artist and chart debutant Noah Kahan landing in third place, one vote ahead of J Hus' Drake collab which proved a much bigger commercial hit for him than 'It's Crazy' but actually does slightly worse in this poll (that got 11 votes). The recent fairly good results for UK rap songs continue as Fredo manages to clear the 5 vote mark, with the only song falling short of that mark this week being BTS' throwaway track put out to mark their 10th anniversary as a group. Way to celebrate!

Let's pretend I've not posted this a couple of days late again  9 songs on offer this week, including a strong quota of rap fodder from both sides of the pond but at least 2 or 3 songs that I presume should get a decent number of votes. The playlist has 10 tracks as the Doechii song has 2 versions (I think the one featuring Kodak was actually the original of the song with the solo version coming out later) and I have to assume both are doing decent numbers and have no way of knowing which one is doing better as neither of them have actually charted on any platform in their own right as far as I know. Based on Doechii's Spotify profile it looks like the solo version is probably more popular right now. In any case, feel free to vote based on either version as ever. With the extra Doechii version included it totals to 31 minutes and 44 seconds this week.

Vote for as many or as few songs as you want and would be ideal if you can make sure you've heard all the songs before voting if possible!

You have until Sunday evening to vote :jump: (I'll stick with this as the deadline and try and be on time again next week x)

My ratings from last week:

1 '0800 HEAVEN' 7.5/10

2 'Who Told You' 7/10

3 'VULGAR' 6.9/10 7/10

4 'Dial Drunk' 6/10

5 'Everybody Knows' 5.5/10

6 'Take Two' 4/10

Was very close to null voting for the first time but I do think '0800 HEAVEN' is just about good enough to have got my vote even if it is a bit baby's first trance song (and I actually liked it slightly less the second time I heard it which already doesn't speak highly of its staying power for me ddd, still much better than the usual from Dawe and Corry). There wasn't anything offensively awful though, the BTS song is just quite competently boring (I feel like putting this out will slightly undermine the impact when they make their proper comeback after all the military stuff but hey). Fredo's is far from his finest work, just sounded like a slightly less good attempt to go for the same throwback vibe as 'Us Against The World', also had some pretty jarring lyrics but the instrumental and the hook were decent enough to give it a passing score. I heard a clip of 'Dial Drunk' the other day and thought I was going to hate it based on that but I think that clip was just capturing a snippet of his voice sounding unusually annoying, it is fine for most of the song, sounds like a Mumford & Sons album track, it's fine. 'VULGAR' is a bit cringe but at least seems like self-aware cringe, I couldn't help but respect it (minus a few particularly OTT lyrics) and the instrumental is actually great at times. The hook of 'Who Told You' has been a massive earworm for a couple of weeks for me now but the rest of the song isn't interesting enough to make it vote worthy (and the Drake feature, while still not as bad as some people made it out to be... on second listen yeah it's not amazing).

great: Peggy Gou

good: Leigh-Anne, Doja Cat, Gunna (47)

mid: Gunna (72), Digga D, Asake, Doechii

crap: D-Block Europe

Voted for Peggy, Doechii and Doja. All fantastic tracks that all deserve vast success, the Leigh-Anne and Asake tracks are listenable but don't really have anything special about them. I guess you could say the same for D Block as well. Digga's track is ok but I find the production to maybe be a bit boring eventually.

Then, we have Gunna. Easily two of the worst chart entries this year so far. 'Back To The Moon' has the edge on me for quality but 'F*kumean' is downright unlistenable.

..which will make it the first time we've had in two consecutive weeks the winner of this poll the same as the winner of Dance Track of the Week!

there'll be zero chance of a third consecutive week for this though as the clear leader in Dance at the moment isn't going to chart

1. Leigh-Anne - Don't Say Love

2. Doechii - What It Is (Block Boy) (feat. Kodak Black)

3. D-Block Europe - Side Effects

4. Asake and Olamide - Amapiano

5. Doja Cat - Attention

6. Gunna - back to the moon

7. Digga D - DTF

8. Gunna - fukumean

9. Peggy Gou - (It Goes Like) Nanana

Voting for my top 3 this time. 'Don't Say Love' is a solid debut from Leigh-Anne but it doesn't sound like a massive hit. Kodak sounds slightly out of place on 'What It Is' but it somehow works so well. I wasn't going to give D-Block Europe a vote but it's surprisingly decent for a Dirtbike LB led-single and I figured not many other people would. He's certainly improving!

'Amapiano' was almost good but there was just something that stopped it from connecting with me. 'Back To The Moon' is definitely the better of the 2 Gunna tracks. It's nowhere near annoying although I'm not a fan of the flow he uses on it

'Attention' is really boring by Doja Cat standards. Her best feature is her unpredictable flows and she doesn’t have the bars to make this type of ‘tell-all’ straight rap track interesting. Similar the third Gunna track in the top 100.

'DTF' has far too many ideas and sounds a bit messy and 'It Goes Like' does nothing for me.

Went for Leigh-Anne, Peggy, Doja, Asake and Doechii - the latter sounds like it could be huge if given the right playlist support.
