That is BAD news! It means the CDs and cassettes that were dispatched last night, have been included in this week’s chart rather than next week’s chart. Massive facepalm moment. It is 2 on physicals and not yet in the vinyl chart.

This! And considering how the planned Tension and essentially made it a Top 20 hit by getting it so right I’m not sure why they have dropped the ball so much on this.

 

I mean at best it was probably only ever going to be a #35 hit with an aligned release, but certaintly much better than what we have now.

 

I’m not mad as we have had hits this era but would have been nice especially with multiple physicals for them to have at least tried to get it up the charts. I hope this is not a sign of BMG reverting to their usual lack of care for single releases.

Now I'm curious about how many CD/Cassette sales were wasted on this week. Unfortunately it's not something that we can find out.

Its so messed up now, im so disappointed in them after doing so well with padam padam and tension and it frustrates me more mainly because i just adore hold on to now and it deserved to have got a better handled release.

In my time following Kylie I've seen many releases get ballsed up, but I think what's happened with this must take the biscuit. It's pretty spectacular.

It really is. Especially as in every interview she says how much it means to her. She may as well have released all the physicals on album release week and got a top 40 hit again.

 

I keep trying to think something else is coming but i am running out of ideas...... how can you mess up physicals, its the one thing that should be concrete

I agree, it's a complete mess. I wonder is kylie herself frustrated with it as she seems to be a big fan of the song herself.

In terms of sales, it sold more copies on CD/cassette than Jack Harlow (number 2 in downloads) did in downloads - so I’m guessing maybe 2000? Plus it may have sold 2000 vinyl, so possibly wouldn’t quite have made the first look chart (top 20) but it would have been nice to see it in the chart update on Monday.

 

I am guessing all the remaining cassettes and CDs that where being sent with the vinyl have been counted in last weeks chart.......

 

So this week its is just the 3 vinyl singles that will count towards the chart + whatever streaming and downloads they can get.

 

I am still trying to fathom what BMG are doing and also Townsend for sending them out a day early i guess and making them count for the wrong week.....

 

+ we still have to see why the missing video has not been shown yet.....? and then there is another remix or 2 that must be ready ? Do they really have something planned? A totally new version with a feature ready for the week after Xmas? All very doubtful because it still doesn't make sense with the physical sales?

 

I get they want to make money and those vinyl singles at £10 each will have done just that, but there is no visibility, even Kylie socials are not promoting it.

Are we sure she's filmed a video for Hold on to Now, was there ever a confirmation? I remember someone suggesting she had filmed a third video but maybe they got their wires crossed and it was one of the lyric/audio videos?

She said in an interview she was filming 2 videos, she even made back stepped and said she had to ring Sophie Muller to talk about the next video, actually the next 2 videos..... i can't think of any other videos she has made except the visualisers. Of course all things can change etc, but its just plain weird to release all these physicals etc and not even any form of video. Obviously it could be to do with another single......

 

I also thought that Hold On To Now was supposed to feature in The Residence Netflix Drama. Now if that was supposed to be out earlier and got delayed again then that could be a reason for things messing up a little, though that was only a rumour. We know she is only in episode 1 of the Residence so we know she has filmed her part etc, just waiting for when that series comes on our screens. I say she may sing in this series as she is playing herself and its an Australian Related Dinner where the murder happens. Just a complete rumour though lol
