Laura is the lead track on Scissor Sisters’ self-titled debut album. The song was released as the band's first single on October 27th, 2003, in the United Kingdom, placing at #54 on the UK Singles Chart. It was later re-issued in June 2004, charting at #12 on the same chart.

Take Your Mama is the second track on the Scissor Sisters’ self-titled debut album. The song, written by Babydaddy and Jake Shears at Shears' parents' horse farm in West Virginia, was inspired by Shears' coming out to his mother, whom he is close with. The lyrics portray a homosexual man showing his mother the activities of gay nightlife in order to bond with her following his coming out. The single was released on March 29, 2004, peaking at #17 on the UK Singles Chart and receiving a silver certification from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) in December 2018.

Congrats to Laura winning and in a slight coincidence I literally just heard it walking round ASDA :o

'Take Your Mama' a worthy runner up too. Thanks for running Wardy ^_^

Not the winner I voted for but still great

I think my top 3 of theirs is 'Mary', 'Invisible Light' and 'Filthy/Gorgeous' so not quite in line with the forum but their discography is so fabulous that the actual top 3 is more than acceptable :P

Thank you for running this Wardy!

Laura was a nine week #1 for me back in 2004 so I can’t really grumble at the result. It’s been a while since I’ve really listened to it now.

Invisible Light, Somewhere, It Can’t Come Quickly Enough and Return to Oz are my most listened to of theirs these days.

Wouldn't quite be my first choice of winner but at least in my top 5 I'd think, definitely the right choice out of that top 2.

Love Laura and love It cant Come Quickly Enough & Return To Oz even more

Thanks for running Wardy! And I can only think Jake's hypothetical night out in gay bars with his mum are not in some of the bars Ive been in, no way I would have let my mum anywhere near some of them! :o :teresa:
