I would think a few people a the least have sadly only discovered it now to the sad passing of Sinead but hopefully more and more peoplee discover it and also many of her other songs as so much of her work is underrated. This is a rebel song is a song ive always adored by her and it seems more poignant than ever now.

Surely even younger people would have heard ‘Nothing Compares’ its quite culturally embedded!

Possibly but it still surprises me that some younger people haven't heard Bohemian Rhapsody before!!

I asked my nieces the other day who are 14 and 16 and they had never ever heard about Madonna :D

Can confirm I did not know it until I was in high school.

Edit: oh dang it's my 10 year BuzzJack anniversary :cheer:

There’s no excuse ever for being culturally dead; shame on your siblings for not showing said teenagers the right cultural paths!!! :-)

In fairness I probably didn’t know names of songs until my later teens even if I’d heard them. By the age of 30 most will know them if they have any interest in music at all!

It’s an odd one. Kate Bush’s RUTH was played in the olympics in 2012 and re entered the charts then. 10 years later, it smashed all over the world despite the somewhat recent exposure. I’m not comparing RUTH to NC2U, however I feel there will be a lot of younger people who hadn’t heard the song until now meaning it could become big again. Perhaps unlikely but you never know! It’s quite interesting how old music can be reinvented by younger generations and then released again.

Not something to brag about!

I mean, these things are entirely understandable if you're 14 and have no interest in music.

It would be like me at the age of 14 expected to know who an ex-premier league footballer was or something.

Tbf you can know a song and have no clue on the artist, I have this all the time at work

I don’t think I’ve ever heard it… I’ll have to change that.

Not everyone has to stan the same artists though , people are entitled to not like an artist

I think they were more aghast at not knowing who the artist is, rather than not liking them.
