Just saw on Instagram Kylie has tension single cassettes for preorder releasing on the 12th so I’m assuming they wanna try give it a 2nd week instead of plummeting

As if 'Tension' is actually gonna debut higher than 'Padam', wouldn't have bet on that a week ago!
Yeah that's true, I guess we'll find out where she would have debuted without physicals for a fairer comparison with 'Padam'.
I'm here for Tension doing as much as possible. My sentiments towards Padam were mostly one of a light bop but I was very supportive of the significance of it being a hit whereas Tension is just an unquestionable grade A bop that continues to grow on me.
a duet with Olivia would have been genius, cos Olivia even used Cruel Summer as inspiration for her Deja Vu song

but looks like thing are not so cool between Taylor-Olivia so that's why probably it didn't happen :D

Yikes read about that. https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/stepha...go-rumored-feud

Some think 'Vampire' is actually about Taylor Swift not about an ex lover. :smoke:

It looks like 'Tension' probably would have been not far off the debut of 'Padam Padam' even without physicals tbf. But definitely sensible of them to put some physicals out in week 1 this time as there's no guarantee of this song having the same level of longevity.

Regardless of whether or not they are on good terms, I think this theory is quite a massive stretch. Isn't it mostly based on the song having the word 'castle' in it and people claiming that's referencing Taylor Swift's 'Castles Crumbling'?

I was gonna say this, I would be more interested in seeing this singles longevity beyond this week more than a one week high peak!

And there was an article about olivia saying people were reading too much into that

Wouldnt be suprised if was the media as she has supposedly said the eras tour is one the best tours ever as well ^_^

Tbf Padam didn’t have physical support in week 1 but yes it’s still impressive

If BMG hadn’t done their usual of releasing Kylie downloads on a Thursday then PP would’ve likely entered in the Top 20… it’s lucky that it had some legs and climbed into the Top 20!

Whether there's any legitimate beef between them or not, it's sad to see so many lawsuits flying about for songs allegedly copying others songs when they just sound vaguely similar at most. The Deja Vu/Cruel Summer case is the most bizarre one yet for me, I can't hear any similarity between them whatsoever and I can't believe Taylor has been credited as a songwriter on Deja Vu

I don't think it's close enough that it should have been a forced writing credit but tbf I do sometimes get the two songs' bridges muddled up (the delivery of the lines 'I don't want to keep secrets just to keep you' vs. 'I know you get déjà vu' is pretty similar). I think there's more validity to that than the 'good 4 u'/'Misery Business' comparison personally.

Tbf Olivia herself has said de ja vu was inspired by cruel summer even saying was one of her favourites at the time, there also hasn't been an official lawsuit , think it was the label that gave taylor a writing credit

She should never have said that in public. Mean Girl Taylor Swift was just waiting to pounce. Saying that in public didn't give Olivia a leg to stand on, ans now she's giving Regina George an even bigger bedroon.
