BuzzJack's favourite top 100 hit for 2023 week 33 and auto-qualifying for the August monthly round is Olivia Rodrigo - bad idea right?.

BuzzJack's favourite top 100 hit for 2023 week 34 and auto-qualifying for the August monthly round is Billy Gillies - DNA (Loving You) (feat. Hannah Boleyn).

BuzzJack's favourite top 100 hit for 2023 week 35 and auto-qualifying for the September monthly round is Selena Gomez - Single Soon.

American star Olivia Rodrigo makes it 2 for 2 poll wins with her chart entries of the year as 'bad idea right?', the spoken word infused second taster from her now-dropped sophomore album 'GUTS' (currently a #6 hit but set for a new high this week), followed 'vampire' to a victory albeit by a smaller margin than I expected, she got support from just over 6 in 10 voters giving her a 5 vote lead over the second placed song which was inexplicably that D-Block Europe remix, blowing all of DBE's previous poll results out of the water (I don't get why this one is winning you guys over, it's really not any better than their average x). The winner of the also-rans in the week 34 poll required the support of fewer than 4 in 10 voters, but it's ultimately Northern Irish DJ and whimsically named Billy Gillies and English vocalist Hannah Boleyn (both UK chart debutants, entering in the low top 100 but on the up since and perhaps soon top 40 bound) who took the victory by 2 votes with their contribution to the 'ride off the coattails of 'Miracle'' trance revival phenomenon. Hozier's Grammy bait collab with Brandi Carlile took 2nd place. And the winner of the mid-off for week 35 (my 3 least favourite songs were the only 3 that got to double figure votes, I'm not normally this out of touch x) is American singer Selena Gomez's single 'Single Soon' (soon), apparently just a throwaway release of an older song and it could quite happily have stayed on the cutting room floor frankly, delivering on a poll win here even if its actual chart performance disappointed some with it arriving outside the top 20 and not looking like improving on that. It nonetheless has the most comfortable victory margin of these 3 winners, landing 6 votes head of Joel Corry's latest collab with generic DJ A and generic vocalist B (MK and Rita Ora this time).

A third song from each poll also managed a double figure result - that means in week 34, although it still comes in last as you'd expect, it's a very valiant effort for Giggs and Dave, only 2 votes behind Hozier. Fred again.. and Obongjayar's collab comes in 3 votes behind cassö and co while Miley Cyrus perhaps underperforms a tad landing 1 vote behind Joel Corry and co. Much ink has been spilled in discourse over Oliver Anthony Music and his politics but enough people registered support for the song here that it avoids the sub 5 vote mark and has double the support of all the UK rap also-rans of the week, both Fredo songs getting 3 votes to just about beat out the Digga D/Potter Payper collab. The sub 5 voters for week 35 lean more to afrobeats than UK rap with poor showings for one of the Burna Boy songs (although Dave just about saves his other entry, while also taking his own new song just barely to the 5 vote mark) and Asake, plus Bugzy Malone's latest attempt at a dance hit which fell flat both commercially and in this poll where it's joint last with 2 votes. I guess I'm relieved 'I Remember Everything' at least got more votes than 'Rich Men North Of Richmond', I think 8 votes might be the most any of the country hits have managed all year.

Right finally another dedicated thread for just the one chart week - and it's a decently varied bunch this week with a few songs that I expect should get a good number of votes, although I don't think there's much tension as to who will actually win. Tunde of course. 12 songs this week totalling 35 minutes and 39 seconds.

Vote for as many or as few songs as you want and would be ideal if you can make sure you've heard all the songs before voting if possible!

And hopefully I can stick to the schedule so setting the deadline for Sunday evening again :jump: will get the August monthly round up now as well which will also be open for a week with results to come in the next weekly poll thread x

11. Måneskin - HONEY (ARE U COMING?)

12. ZWE1HVNDXR and yatashigang - LOVELY BASTARDS

Voting for my top 2 this week. I'm really liking the more relaxed sound from Nicki. 'Last Time I Saw You' is just really nice. I'm not massive on Tion's verse on 'AMEN' but Nines is great and the chorus is an earworm.

'Back On 74' is not something I would search out but I enjoyed it. I wanted to like 'Vertigo' more but there's something slightly off-putting with that chorus. 'I KNOW ?' certainly sounds like a Travis Scott album track.

'Lil Boo Thang' is nowhere near as bad as I was expecting based off that title. It's kinda fun. 'Not Guilty' is boring. He has the same flow throughout the whole track. I like the Kendrick-flow in 'Demons' but that chorus is not it.

'Tension' is slightly better than 'Padam Padam' was on first listen but it's still pretty odd. I like the vocals on 'Strangers' but the production is very boring.

'HONEY (ARE U COMING?' is probably the best thing I've heard from Måneskin but still pretty bad and I don't even know what to say about 'LOVELY BASTARDS'. It doesn't even feel like music.

I forgot to vote for Lovely bast*rds, a +1 would be appreciated!

I will get it added to the poll (as I did with Issey Cross the other week) but sounds like you may need to proofread a bit more before voting in polls in the future :sarah:

Kylie Minogue - Tension (#19) - not hitting the mark like Padam did

Kenya Grace - Strangers (#20) - this is not half bad!

Tion Wayne and Nines - AMEN (#43) - this has some replayability factor

Nicki Minaj - Last Time I Saw You (#46) - seems like a while since she's done a more singy track like this - quite a nice vibe to it

Doja Cat - Demons (#53) - crock of shite

Travis Scott - I KNOW ? (#63) - a bit messy and well below par

Jungle - Back On 74 (#73) - besides some okish falsetto vocals there's very little substance to this song

Måneskin - HONEY (ARE U COMING?) (#75) - YES BABY I AM!

Griff - Vertigo (#84) - nothing to see here at all

Tunde - Not Guilty (#95) - nothing we haven't heard before

ZWE1HVNDXR and yatashigang - LOVELY bast*rdS (#96) - this is about as niche as it gets and i am here for it

Paul Russell - Lil Boo Thang (#97) - shocked someone tried to enter this to BJSC, about as corny as it gets

Voted Kenya, Tion, Nicki, Maneskin and ZWE whatever.

2. Måneskin - HONEY (ARE U COMING?)

3. ZWE1HVNDXR and yatashigang - LOVELY BAST*RDS

Already liked 3 here anyway but they are the only ones I still enjoy out of this lot, wasn't crazy on the Jungle track sadly after enjoying their recent BJSC entry!

Voted for Kenya, Måneskin and Kylie.

Voted for my top 7 here which is more than I voted for in the previous thread with 3 polls combined :cheeseblock: Absolutely love the distorted production and aggressive hook on 'Demons', the verses are good too although as I commented in the thread for her album I do wish they went a little more aggressively too as that could have made this a rare 10/10 song for me but still great stuff. Need to pay more attention to Tunde as I've been a fan of both of his top 100 hits now, 'Not Guilty' is not anything original but it slaps, he does still remind me of Potter Payper but with better production and stronger hooks. 'I KNOW ?' is reminding me a bit of Future's 'PUFFIN ON ZOOTIEZ', a bit understated but can see the melody being quite infectious. 'Strangers' is definitely riding the PinkPantheress wave a little blatantly but it executes the formula well so I'm here for it. Jungle made a good Jungle song and Måneskin made a good Måneskin song, not much to say about those other than I like them. Don't care for the Nines verse on 'AMEN' but I do like Tion's verse, pretty good instrumental and a standout hook with the slight gospel tinges. I love that something as leftfield as 'LOVELY BASTARDS' is somehow charting - sounded very different to what I expected, I guess it falls under the phonk umbrella but it's not like any phonk song I've heard before - but it's not quite coming together as a song for me, just a cool brief collage of sounds, might well be a grower though. I like the general vibe Nicki is going for on 'Last Time I Saw You' but it's let down by a pretty weak rap verse. 'Vertigo' is quite boring for the first couple of minutes, then it suddenly gets good with the bridge (reminding me a lot of Taylor Swift), then it quickly ends - could have been a lot better. I think 'Tension' has some good ideas in it and I do like the verses but I'm really not that keen on the chorus, I just feel like the vocal effects/mixing sound a bit off? And then 'Lil Boo Thang' feels like it should be a bit cringe but I like it more than I probably should at least for now, it has enough of a feel good vibe that I can't hate, at least as long as I don't hear it 1,000 times.

The results here are closer than I expected so far
