Sonique burst onto the music scene a decade earlier with a group called S'express but it was 2000 when she came alive in the music industry by herself after releasing the huge banger that was 'It Feels So Good' and topped the chart months before Sonique released the 2nd single to take advantage of the success she had with the lead and it did just that by almost going to #1 too, if only the massive summer anthem from Modjo hadn't stopped her on the week she debuted with 'Sky'!

 

We are left with what we'd consider a very Buzzjack final 2 here with two of the biggest female singers of this Century and All Time! Who are you going for!

.... Kelly is my pick to win :lol: but P!nk is clearly going to do it and that's cool too, it's not among my top faves from her but a great track still!

All 3 of Sonique's big hits are A-tier.

 

Pink levels clear for the final.

I love both songs but I can't really ever listen to U + Ur Hand without thinking how much of a huge debt it owes to 4ever by The Veronicas. That got to No.17 in 2009 here so probably looked like some desperately outdated P!nk pastiche by that point but it was actually released originally in 2005 as part of the excellent The Secret Life Of... album. Both were co-written by Max Martin and Dr Luke, but as 4ever came a year earlier I can only assume that song's lack of global success encouraged them to recycle the sound and production for the P!nk song. The lyrics of U + Ur Hand are definitely clever though.

 

But Behind These Hazel Eyes is a great track for me, a very solid follow-up to Since U Been Gone and part of one of the best singles runs of any album for me. I was obsessed with everything about Kelly Clarkson in 2005/6, so it easily gets my vote. Obviously also produced by Max Martin and Dr Luke, so clearly they were on top form in the mid 00s, as much as the latter is someone I prefer not to think about now.

I do love both but Behind The Hazel Eyes is such a moment for Kelly for me, aged fantastically and still quite an underrated anthem imo, so that to win x

Kelly I guess, but this is a weak top 2, neither of these are anywhere close to either artists' best work.
