December 15, 20231 yr OCC has desteoyed the chart by buildin up Wham ans knockin down Ma4iah at every turn. Pogues now have no chance.
December 15, 20231 yr Creator Universe not being iTunes #1 from the off when the ITunes #1 typically does about 2k per week suggests it’s over for them - I suppose the campaign could suddenly hit home later in the week but for now it looks like a Wham! Pogues battle. I think the thing is that Ladbaby tapped into a very specific demographic of people who were still willing to download music. Social media influencers wouldn’t have access to the same people - some of their followers might barely know what iTunes is.
December 15, 20231 yr If it's between Wham & Pogues then it's a win win for me as I'd massively prefer the Pogues to get it but I did put a bet on Wham in the end a few weeks back. But I still don't think it's done and dusted, you only have to look at 2018 where it seemed odds on that Ava Max would be #1 at the start of the tracking week.
December 15, 20231 yr This Pogues vinyl release will surely need to prove extremely popular for them to beat Wham! with the streaming deficit plus Wham!’s own sales campaign.
December 15, 20231 yr I think the Pogues will do a lot better than Wham! on downloads if it comes to needing them to get over the line. I've bought Fairytale of New York 4 times this morning

December 15, 20231 yr Unless The Pogues get a reset (which I think isn’t that unlikely actually) I can’t see them beating Wham
December 15, 20231 yr Unless The Pogues get a reset (which I think isn’t that unlikely actually) I can’t see them beating Wham Fingers crossed; I put a couple of bets on Wham!, so would be good if they got it.
December 15, 20231 yr Surely they couldn’t re-set one and not the other given both teams are promoting new versions. Unless they say it’s a death re-set, but George fans are also saying it would be a great tribute to him to get the Christmas #1 even though he died a few years ago, so I don’t think they could do that without quite a big backlash. And re-setting neither gives the Pogues a better chance than re-setting both given their streaming disadvantage. Edited December 15, 20231 yr by Jingle Jules
December 15, 20231 yr I wouldn't want The Pogues to get a reset tbh, would be too much of a can of worms and devalue the achievement a bit. (I'm still pretty certain they won't get one anyway)
December 15, 20231 yr Wham should have waited until next year tbh. It'd have been a nice way for their 40th to get a campaign going and these vinyl/CD releases... EDIT: Creator Universe wiil definitely be begging and pleading their mass amount of followers if it looks like it's going to fall short at any point... I assume Lorraine & Joss was a glitch and it got mentioned on Lorraine's show this morning or something, idk.
December 15, 20231 yr Nah they couldn’t reset one and not the other. Quite frankly they should reset both but they won’t nevertheless streaming us up hugely this year which isn’t surprising so I’m sure that benefits the old timers
December 15, 20231 yr The Pogues closing the gap on Wham slightly to 10k behind this week. Their physicals will add some but really needs a coordinated download campaign to pull it off.
