December 7, 20231 yr Liam Gallagher has had singles under his own name, Oasis and Beady Eye. Noel Gallagher has had singles under his own name, Oasis and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds It depends how you see the topic really. Oasis and Beady Eye are bands (obviously lol), so I’m not sure it would class as “Liam Gallagher charting with a different name”.
December 7, 20231 yr Pussycat Dolls / Nicole Scherzinger :kink: Another good one I just thought of… S Club Juniors and S Club 8.You can use the main group too! Charted as both S Club 7 & S Club! Also hasn’t Brendan Urie also charted as a soloist under the Panic At The Disco! Name too? Also, Marina & The Diamonds / MARINA.
December 7, 20231 yr Paul Masterson presents Sushi/Yomanda/Amen UK/ Hi-Gate (duo with Judge Jules) Lange/SuReaL Jurgen Vries/DT8 Project/Angelic (real name Darren Tate) Edited December 7, 20231 yr by TheSnake
December 7, 20231 yr The artist now known as Russ Millions previously went through the names Russ (not to be confused with the American rapper), Russ splash and RussMB, and had hits credited to all 4 variations (just the #78 hit Dappy collab 'Splash' in the case of RussMB).
December 7, 20231 yr The exhausting number of names of Diddy/Puff Daddy/P Diddy/Puff Daddy & The Family/P. Diddy & The Bad Boy Family
December 7, 20231 yr Chipmunk has changed his name to Chip (although I don't know if he's charted since then).
December 7, 20231 yr Did Jennifer Lopez ever chart as J Lo? For some reason I’m thinking she did, with singles like Play and Ain’t It Funny. I may just be imagining it though.
December 7, 20231 yr Chipmunk has changed his name to Chip (although I don't know if he's charted since then). He's been just Chip for way longer than he was Chipmunk now, and he's had about the same number if not slightly more charting songs post name change than before (although most of them didn't go top 40).
December 7, 20231 yr per the OCC, Chipmunk has had 13 hits as Chipmunk and 13 as Chip :) only they were bigger hits as Chipmunk including one #1 and three top 3 hits hits
December 7, 20231 yr Sugababes / MKS Jennifer Lopez / J-Lo Liberty / Liberty X There are others I wish had charted! For example: A Fine Frenzy / Alison Sudol
December 7, 20231 yr Yeah I said 'if not slightly more' because I don't trust that the OCC list is complete, they're quite iffy with artists who chart mostly via collaborations. And the Wikipedia list definitely has at least one song it claims charted which didn't so it's hard to get a definitive answer without spending some time researching
December 7, 20231 yr Not sure it counts but you have McBusted (a combo of Busted and McFly) with a one hit wonder from 2014.
December 7, 20231 yr Did Jennifer Lopez ever chart as J Lo? For some reason I’m thinking she did, with singles like Play and Ain’t It Funny. I may just be imagining it though. No, the album those singles were from is called J-Lo and she never called herself that as her artist name.
December 7, 20231 yr Speaking of Chipmunk... The singer on the hook of his number 1 'Oopsy Daisy' had a few hits under different names too iirc. Dayo Olatunji (I can't ever remember if she's officially credited on 'Oopsy Daisy' though!), Dyo (NEIKED - Sexual) & Ms D (Wiley - Heatwave/Can You Hear Me? (Ayayaya)/Reload) all 5 are top 10 hits!
December 7, 20231 yr Didn't Cliff Richard once have a go at releasing an R&B single under some kind of alias to see if radio stations would play it if they didn't know it was him? I can't remember what the alias was or whether the single charted.
December 7, 20231 yr And for a more stereotypically Buzzjack friendly answer, Mel B charted a single or two as 'Mel G' in the late 90s. Iirc she has charted under 4 names - Mel B Melanie G Melanie B Melanie Brown Edited December 7, 20231 yr by sammy01
December 7, 20231 yr A few years before 'Sax', Fleur East charted as just "Fleur" as a feature on Drumsound & Bassline Smith's 'One in a Million'.
