Does anyone know if it's possible to buy multiple copies from Amazon? I would've thought you could only do it once per account, but he seems to think it's possible to download more than one

Even if Sam doesn't get #1, at least he hasn't used his platform to bash other people (Creator Universe) or beg all week (LadBaby). He’s having a good time with his friends, meeting new people, and sharing his song.

Yes Sam comes out of this week with a lot of credit and general goodwill.

I think Sam has two versions of his song on Amazon? What I have also found on Amazon is that you can download the same version of a song a second time after about 48 hours.

I've actually just watched him do it on his live stream, he's bought it 3 times in a row and it seemed to work, confirming the purchase. I wonder if it's actually charging him again though.

 

And I think on the confirmation page you have to click Download to actually download the track. Does it count if you don't download?

It doesn't bother me if it does or not, If people did remember Sam's song in years to come I wouldn't want it clogging up the charts, I would rather new music charted.

It is a shame the wasn't enough cds to meet demand, those extra sales could have helped Sam get to number 1.

You can do multiples - I think 3 is the maximum every 24 hours.

I'm pretty sure that if you purchase the same track on Amazon multiple times on the same day, it let's you think you have purchased it, and allows you to download again, but it does not actually charge you, and does not appear on your purchases list. You have to wait up to 48 hours for it to charge you again, and I would imagine it is the payments that they track for chart purposes.

The next chart week is the biggest one for Christmas songs! Of course Christmas song streams will tail off massively in the last couple of days of the week but they're big enough in the days leading up to Christmas to more than make up for that.

 

It was the post-Christmas chart where Ellie's Amazon song peaked at #1 so maybe Sam might have a chance then. But Ellie may have been helped out by the fact her song was not really explicitly a Christmas song (which Sam's is).
