On the strength of his lone single, the Bathgate native sold out legendary Glasgow club King Tut's and notched millions of streams before dropping his follow-up single, the equally stark "Lost on You," later that summer. After signing with Virgin Records, Capaldi included both songs on his debut EP, Bloom, and capped off his banner year with a Scottish Music Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year. The front half of 2018 was spent touring in North America and Europe in advance of his next single, "Rush," featuring Jessie Reyez. "Tough" followed a few months later. Both tracks were featured on his next EP, Breach, which arrived in November of that year. Capaldi's debut LP -- titled Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent -- arrived in May 2019 on Virgin EMI and featured the hit single "Bruises." - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2018 09 Grace -2- MILLIONAIRE 2018 01 Someone You Loved -3- MILLIONAIRE 2019 06 Bruises -1/5- MILLIONAIRE 2019 04 Hold Me While You Wait -4- MILLIONAIRE 2019 01 Before You Go -6- MILLIONAIRE 2022 01 Forget Me -1- MILLIONAIRE 2022 01 Pointless -2- 2023 24 How I'm Feeling Now -PS- 2023 01 Wish You The Best -3- 2023 28 Haven't You Ever Been In Love Before? -AT- 5 x #1 | 6 x Top 5 | 8 x Top 10 | 8 x Top 20 | 10 x Top 40 | 10 x Top 100 Social Media Lewis Capaldi http://i.imgur.com/1SERq1f.png
December 29, 20232 yr Author 26 Doja Cat Paint The Town Red 2nd single from Scarlet Released: 4th August 2023 Label: Kemosabe Records / RCA Records Chart Statistics NE (17/08/2023) | 20-15-4-2-1-1-1-1-1-12-9-12-13-16-23-28-41-65-73-79-... Sales: 600k+ Certification: Platinum 01 Sales 01 Audio Streaming 01 Video Streaming Video m4_9TFeMfJE Biography Some call the end of summer the “slow news season”—school's still out, vacation is in full swing, and headlines tend to get weird—and Doja Cat (born Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini in 1995) knew just what to do about it. In August of 2018, the Los Angeles singer and rapper dropped “Mooo!”, a sultry R&B jam, thick with double entendres and sung from the perspective of a cow. It went viral, thanks to an unforgettable, improbably catchy chorus that had people wondering: Could she possibly be for real? But Doja, who released her debut EP, Purrr!, in 2014, and her first album, Amala, in 2018, was no novelty act. In the years since, she has proven herself one of pop music’s savviest, most audacious characters. She raps nimbly, switching up her cadence from one syllable to the next, and her pop-culture nods (referencing actresses Tia and Tamera Mowry or sampling blink-182 and Paul Anka) are just as unpredictable as her dizzying flow. Her presentation is both tough and coquettish. As she demonstrated over and over on her 2019 album, Hot Pink, she assumes a fun and fundamentally empowered stance in her singing and rapping about sex. And woe to anyone who might take issue with that: “Sex is meaningful, it is!” she told Apple Music, with her trademark defiant charm. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2019 80 Juicy (Doja Cat & Tyga) -1- 2020 02 Say So -2- MILLIONAIRE 2020 24 Boss Bitch -OST- 2020 62 Like That (feat. December 29, 20232 yr Not this beating the “hits” from his latest album are people not bored of this yet?
December 29, 20232 yr I don’t like or dislike Giving Me - it’s just there. Worth noting it’s the highest EOY position for Mariah this century I believe even though she’s been well outshone by Wham! this year.
December 29, 20232 yr Still find this one uninteresting to a degree but not one I'd switch off it came on tbh.
December 29, 20232 yr These last few have not been a vintage section :P I really liked 'Attention' and 'Demons' from Doja, plus enjoyed 'Agora Hills' to a lesser extent, but could never get into the big #1 of the era :(
December 29, 20232 yr Paint the Town Red is a bop *.* This and Attention are easily in my top 4 Doja songs with Boss Bitch/Vegas <3
December 29, 20232 yr I didn’t like Paint The Town Red at first as thought it was a dreadful use of the sample but it’s grown on me a lot. Hope Agora Hills can do well next month.
December 29, 20232 yr Author 25 Lewis Capaldi Forget Me 1st single from Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent Released: 9th September 2022 Label: Vertigo Berlin Chart Statistics NE (22/09/2022) | [1-2-3-3-3-3-6-4-6-16-19-29-49-60-67-91]-26-29-42-35-38-44-37-40-38-42-49-50-49-45-8-7-9-11-11-52-x RE (08/06/2023) | 62-83-93-93-63-71-76-82-91-x RE (17/08/2023) | 100-x Sales: 1,100k+ Certification: Platinum 01 Sales 03 Audio Streaming 03 Video Streaming Video nBZlrbrBO1I Biography “I never really think, ‘OK, I’m going to write a song,’” Lewis Capaldi told Apple Music. “My creative process is basically: I sit down with a guitar and or at the piano, and I just start to write.” But the amazing thing about Capaldi is that he’s become one of the most popular young artists of his generation by preserving his songs in that raw, unvarnished state, to provide the purest representation of the pain and longing coursing through his lyrics. Amid the hyper-paced, totally wired world of late-2010s pop, this unassuming Scottish singer-songwriter and former Up Next artist—born 1996 in Glasgow—stopped the internet dead in its tracks with his DIY 2017 single “Bruises”, a stark, piano-based breakup ballad that introduced a voice imbued with the sort of soulful grit and deeply felt heartache you wouldn’t expect from a baby-faced 21-year-old. “Bruises” was Capaldi’s ticket to international major-label deals and tours opening for pop A-listers like Sam Smith and Niall Horan, but he would swiftly join their ranks with his equally rustic 2018 single “Someone You Loved”, another tear-jerking expression of sorrow—inspired by the death of his grandmother—that went to No. 1 in the US and UK, and has since become one of the most-streamed songs of all time. Those singles formed the foundation of Capaldi’s chart-topping full-length debut, 2019’s Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, which fleshes out his sound with lush orchestration and gospel gravitas but, through songs like the suicide-themed “Before You Go”, retains his fearless flair for dredging up the messiest of emotions. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2018 09 Grace -2- MILLIONAIRE 2018 01 Someone You Loved -3- MILLIONAIRE 2019 06 Bruises -1/5- MILLIONAIRE 2019 04 Hold Me While You Wait -4- MILLIONAIRE 2019 01 Before You Go -6- MILLIONAIRE 2022 01 Forget Me -1- MILLIONAIRE 2022 01 Pointless -2- 2023 24 How I'm Feeling Now -PS- 2023 01 Wish You The Best -3- 2023 28 Haven't You Ever Been In Love Before? -AT- 5 x #1 | 6 x Top 5 | 8 x Top 10 | 8 x Top 20 | 10 x Top 40 | 10 x Top 100 Social Media Lewis Capaldi http://i.imgur.com/1SERq1f.png
December 29, 20232 yr OK they definitely could have played one of his #1s of this year ahead of this (suppose it was his last #1 without the help of physicals though)
