Well I think that means that my own top 2 are the final two so no grumbles from me! The Cure were my fourth choice too so that's a great top 3.

SOS is top tier ABBA so glad to see it so high.

I like 1 of the top 2, but what I think will be the winner less so.

Surprised to see my 14 points being the second lowest score for SOS. I find it one of their better songs TBH, just don't really care for them at all!

A magnificent top 3, ranked them all in my top 10. Hopefully my 50 pointer wins

Getting a flashback to when Remedy was frustratingly stuck just outside the Top 5, and then one week it was #5 in the mids only to be just edged out… and the result here is similar  . It’s a brilliant and unique pop song.

Show Me Love is my least favourite in the Top 8 as I’ve just heard it too many times, but I can’t deny that it’s a great record.

I love ABBA but 4th is fair for SOS and it is indeed a brilliant Top 3. Enjoy The Silence was my 49 behind ELO so that to win!

'SOS' is a great song but not quite up there with Abba's absolute best.

I'm not a fan of The Cure but 'Friday I'm In Love' is quite frankly brilliant.

I can't think of which songs are left so I'm excited for the top 2 reveal :)

Not much I can say when all the songs are so great at this stage but i'm delighted that my top 2 have made the top 2 and either would be an immensely deserved winner.
A brilliant top 3, fitting for such a good rate. My +49 is still in and hope it wins, but any of the top 3 would have been fitting.

Enjoy The Silence got off to a slow start with four of the first seven voters putting it in their bottom ten. There was no stopping it after that and the last fifteen voters all gave it a score between 43 and 50. It finished with a huge lead of 190 points over the second placed song. Released in 1990 as the second single from the 'Violator' album, it was the Basildon group's sixth top 10 hit and their first since 1984. It won the award for Best British Single at the 1991 Brit Awards.

Expected winner (what a margin!), but very well deserved. I first discovered it on this here website and it's become a real favourite since. The ominous instrumental, cryptic lyrics and video all work together wonderfully, it's the very best of Depeche Mode  Duran Duran quite a surprise runner up, I had to remind myself of it and I'm not a big fan of them in general, but this is a good one.

That and Chasing Cars (as overplayed as it is, it's still utterly beautiful) were my big favourites from the top 10, though I do enjoy all of them to varying extents. Didn't expect Remedy to be that high, I did enjoy it back in the day, but she really came and went before you knew it!

Thanks for hosting Rollo, always enjoy these and already speculating who will win the #7s rate next year x

Oh yes, when people were posting their votes, I remember thinking 'Enjoy The Silence' is probably gonna win! Definitely a deserved winner, it's a classic of its time for sure (even if it's not quite my favourite Depeche Mode single when 'Everything Counts' exists). Duran Duran a worthy #2 as well, although it doesn't come close to 'Come Undone' for me as my favourite by them.

Thanks Rollo, I've enjoyed following this and I look forward to the next one, whenever/whatever that might be!

Oh I love Come Undone as well Mango! *.*

Perfect result, Enjoy The Silence is one of my top 10 songs ever so it truly was an easy 50 pointer for me. I just love the way it cleverly adapts the main riffs and the way it builds towards the end is particularly wonderful. The lyrics are great too, and really unusual for such a pop song.

Lots of great songs in the field but like Dandy, 'Enjoy The Silence' was such an easy +50 for me so I'm thrilled it won  chuffed with 'Ordinary World' as runner up too, the taste!

Thanks for your brilliant work with this as ever Rollo, enjoyed following along.

Well, 'Chasing Cars' was my +50 but 'Enjoy The Silence' was +49, so I'm very pleased the former made the top 10 and the latter won so convincingly - such a well-constructed song with a memorable instrumental. I wouldn't have predicted 'Ordinary World' at #2 but happy with that, it made my top 20 and appeared on the first album I bought (Now 1993) so I associate it with that time rather than their big 80s hits which I mostly discovered years later, along with 'Friday I'm In Love' which is absolutely up there with The Cure's best from the 80s, fabulous to see it rounding out the top 3. 'Remedy' is my other big favourite from the top 10, as a danceable pop song that really stood out from its time.

Thank you Rollo for running this over the last 3+ months, it's been a lot of fun to take part in again!

Thank you for running this Rollo, great fun and a particularly strong group of songs this year. I've never seen any song dominate any rate as much as Enjoy The Silence did on pages 2 and 3 of this voting thread! Very worthy winner.
